You're invited to our 2026 ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

The Centre will be celebrating our 44th year of service and recognizing our outgoing Executive Director for her part in supporting women to build brighter futures for themselves and their families.

The meeting will be held on Thursday, September 17th from 6:30 to 8:00 PM in Committee Rooms 1 & 2 of the Scarborough Civic Centre (150 Borough Drive).

The accessible entrance to the Scarborough Civic Centre is located just west of the public library. Metered parking available on the street and in the lot at 158 Borough Drive. Closest TTC stop is located along Ellesmere Road at Borough Approach East.

*After many years of dedicated service, Executive Director, Lynda Kosowan, has announced her retirement and will be stepping away from her role in Fall 2026. For the past 40 years, Lynda has played a vital role in shaping the Centre into what it is today. From strengthening programs to expanding community partnerships, she has advanced the Centre's mission to support tens of thousands of women across Scarborough.

CONNECTING WITH NATURE: THE JAPANESE PRACTICE OF SHINRIN-YOKU

In 1982 Shinrin-Yoku, or "Forest Bathing" was deemed an official wellness practice in Japan, and by 2017, was included in clinical practice to support people's physical, emotional, and mental wellness. The health benefits of Shinrin-Yoku are now recognized and practiced globally. In this workshop you will learn about the specific health benefits of spending time in nature; the science behind how the forest and being in nature is able to support our health; how to practice Shinrin-Yoku in nature outdoors and how to bring nature inside. We will also provide resources for further learning.
