For rural fire departments like Hampton and Upham, reaching fires in areas where full-size fire trucks cannot access is a challenge.

GlobalMedic donated two fire skids, one to Hampton Fire Rescue and another to the neighbouring Upham Fire Department. The portable units give firefighters the ability to bring water and pumping capacity closer to the fire, reducing the need to run thousands of feet of hose from larger apparatus.

Donation of fire skids across neighbouring departments will also allow the teams to train together and support each other during emergencies.

The new equipment will provide both departments with an additional resource for responding quickly to fires across their rural communities.

Students from Appleby College regularly help pack McAntony's Menu food at our Oakville location. Each packing shift, students turn pantry staples, like rice, chickpeas, green peas, kidney beans, and lentils, from bulk 50 lbs bags into 500-700g bags that get boxed up, put on a skid, and distributed to local food banks, community organizations, and shelters across the GTA. For Wilson's Landing Firefighters Association , access to reliable water can be a challenge, especially when responding to wildfires in rural and hard-to-reach areas.

GlobalMedic donated a fire skid equipped with a 1,000-litre water tank, pump, and hose system, providing the department with an additional water source and greater flexibility in the field. The skid can be paired with the department’s bush truck, effectively doubling its available water capacity and allowing crews to reach areas beyond the main roads.

Serving a rural stretch of approximately 20 kilometres, this added capacity gives Wilson’s Landing firefighters another valuable tool to bring water closer to the fire and respond more effectively where access is limited.

Ontario has experienced increasingly dangerous wildfire seasons, with 541 fires reported in 2025 and 785 in 2026.

GlobalMedic was in Parry Sound distributing fire skids to local fire departments. Each fire skid is equipped with a 1,000-litre water tank, pump and fire hose, providing mobile firefighting capacity that can help crews reach spot fires and areas where larger trucks may have difficulty accessing.

This equipment helps strengthen the capacity of smaller fire departments to respond to wildfires and protect their communities.

Madison and her team at WestJet packed soap for families in Jamaica impacted by Hurricane Melissa.

These soap packages are being included in Family Emergency Kits for families who need basic hygiene supplies after the storm. WestJet teams worked closely with ground handlers to ensure everything was flown safely to Jamaica.

Volunteer fire departments are often the first to respond to grass and prairie fires, and having the right equipment can make all the difference during wildfire season.

We were proud to donate a fire skid unit to the Eatonia Fire Department in Saskatchewan. Serving the Town of Eatonia and two large rural municipalities, the department responds to frequent grass and prairie fires, particularly during harvest season. This fire skid is another valuable piece of equipment that they can use to help crews respond more effectively across their large service area.

We are grateful for the dedication of volunteer firefighters and proud to help equip departments like Eatonia Fire Department with practical tools that strengthen local wildfire response.

GlobalMedic’s Rapid Response Team was on the ground in Jamaica, continuing its response following Hurricane Melissa.

In Negril — one of the hardest-hit areas — teams supported a local soup kitchen serving approximately 150 meals daily to individuals facing food insecurity. GlobalMedic provided food supplies for operations of one full week, including staple items such as flour, rice, and beans.

All supplies were sourced locally, helping support the domestic economy while addressing immediate food needs. With tourism still recovering and many livelihoods impacted, demand for support remained high. Alongside larger-scale efforts, targeted support like this continues to play a key role in reaching communities facing ongoing challenges.

Firefighters from Liberación, San Pedro gathered in Asunción to receive one of GlobalMedic’s fire skid units ahead of Paraguay’s 2026 wildfire season.

Serving a community of roughly 7,000 people, the department has around 30 members, including 12 active firefighters. While they already operate larger tanker trucks, local crews explained that those vehicles are often too large to access the remote terrain where many wildfires are ablaze.

Through GlobalMedic’s fire skid program, the department received a unit that transforms a pickup truck into a fire truck. By allowing crews to get closer to active fires in forested areas, the skid will help firefighters respond faster and improve their ability to contain wildfires before they spread.
