God Moves the Stones
The women walking to the tomb that morning had a serious problem. Actually, they had three: a massive stone, Roman soldiers, and an imperial seal. Any one of those obstacles would have stopped most people before they even started. But here is what is remarkable. They went anyway.

They did not have a plan. They did not have a solution. They just had a desire to be near Jesus, and that was enough. When they arrived, every single barrier had already been removed. God had gone ahead of them.

This is one of the most encouraging truths in all of Scripture. When you genuinely desire to draw near to Jesus, God clears the way. You do not have to figure everything out before you take the first step. You do not have to have the answers before you move forward in faith.

Maybe you are staring at your own stone right now. A situation that feels immovable. A fear that feels too big. A past that feels too heavy. Here is the good news: the ultimate obstacle between you and God, sin itself, has already been removed through Jesus Christ. If He handled that, He can handle what you are facing today. Take the step. He has already gone ahead of you.

Staying When Everyone Else Leaves
When things got dangerous, most of the disciples disappeared. It is easy to judge them, but honestly, most of us would have done the same thing. Fear has a way of making us run.

But the women stayed. They stood at the cross. They sat at the tomb. They came back at dawn. Their devotion did not depend on circumstances being comfortable or outcomes being certain. They stayed close to Jesus even when it cost them something.

This kind of faithfulness is rare, and it is deeply beautiful to God. It is easy to follow Jesus when life is going well. The real test comes when things fall apart, when the prayer goes unanswered, when the diagnosis comes back, when the relationship breaks down. What do you do then? Do you drift, or do you draw closer?

You do not have to be the loudest or the most confident person to be deeply devoted to Jesus. You just have to stay. Keep showing up. Keep turning toward Him, even in the silence, even in the grief, even when you do not understand what He is doing. That faithfulness is an act of worship.

Worship Is a Way of Life
Most of us think of worship as something that happens on a Sunday morning, maybe during a favourite song or a quiet moment of prayer. But worship is so much bigger than that. It is the posture of your entire life.

Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Jesus show us what this looks like. The night before they went to the tomb, they were already preparing their spices. They were not waiting to see how they felt in the morning. They were not hoping someone else would take care of it. They were intentional, urgent, and completely focused on Jesus.

Think about your own week. Where does Jesus show up? Is He an afterthought, squeezed in between everything else, or is He the centre that everything else orbits around? These women had just watched Jesus die. Their grief was real. Their confusion was real. And yet, at the very first opportunity, they were moving toward Him.

That is the invitation for you today. Not to have it all together, not to feel spiritually strong, but simply to turn toward Jesus with whatever you have. Worship begins the moment He becomes your focus, not just on Sundays, but in the ordinary, everyday moments of your life.

Look at the Women
What does it really look like to follow Jesus? Sometimes the clearest answer is not found in a definition. It is found in a life.

In Matthew's account of Jesus' death and resurrection, something striking happens. Many of the disciples disappear. Fear, grief, confusion, and failure overwhelm them. But the women remain. They are at the cross. They sit opposite the tomb. And at the first opportunity on Sunday morning, they are moving toward Jesus again.

They do not know that the resurrection has happened. They do not know how the stone will be moved. They are grieving the death of the One they love. Still, they go. Why? Because Jesus is worth moving toward even when they do not understand what He is doing. That is the heart of worship.

Worship is much bigger than the songs we sing. Worship is a life with Jesus at the centre. It is surrendering ourselves to Him, trusting Him enough to obey, giving back what He has placed in our hands, and knowing His Word well enough to build our lives upon it.

The women show us what that looks like. Their circumstances had changed dramatically, but the object of their devotion had not. Jesus was still Jesus.

That is where this week's journey begins.

Before asking what you need to surrender, where you need to go, or what you need to do, begin with a simpler question: Is Jesus at the centre?

Look at the women. Then look at Jesus. And move toward Him.

SUNDAY, Oct 4

The Truth Still Stands
The first lie in the garden began with four simple words:
"Did God really say?" That question has echoed throughout human history. Can God's Word really be trusted? Did He actually mean what He said? Do His boundaries really matter? Wouldn't life be better if I decided for myself?

This week, we have seen how those questions can lead us down a road of compromise. What begins as uncertainty can become contradiction. Contradiction can become disobedience. And eventually we find ourselves somewhere we never intended to go.

But there is another truth running through the story. God's Word still stands. In Genesis 1, God spoke, creation responded, and what He declared came to pass. In Genesis 3, humanity rejected His Word, but His warning still proved true.

And centuries later, Jesus hung on a cross and spoke another declaration: "It is finished." That Word still stands too. The enemy may accuse you, but Jesus says you are forgiven. Shame may tell you to hide, but God still comes looking for you. Your failures may tell you that you are beyond restoration, but Jesus has already paid the price to bring you home. The answer to the enemy's lies is not simply becoming better at arguing with them. It is becoming deeply rooted in the truth of who God is and what He has said.

Brett reminded us that when God calls you His son or daughter or son through Christ Jesus, His Word is absolute. Think about that. Your identity does not rest on how well you performed this week. It rests on His Word. Your hope does not rest on whether you managed to avoid every failure. It rests on His Word. Your victory does not rest ultimately on your ability to hold on to God. It rests on the God who came looking for you when you were hiding.

So when the voice comes again, "Did God really say?" Return to what He has spoken. Yes. He said it. And His truth still stands.

SATURDAY, Oct 3

He Came Looking for You
Here is one of the most remarkable moments in all of Scripture. Adam and Eve had just done the one thing God asked them not to do. They were hiding, ashamed, fully aware of what they had broken.

And what does God do? He comes looking for them. "Where are you?"

He already knew where they were. The question was not for His benefit. It was for theirs. Even in their rebellion, even in their shame, God pursued them. He did not wait for them to clean themselves up or find their way back on their own. He came to them.

That same God is pursuing you. Whatever you are carrying today, whatever you have done or left undone, whatever shame has been keeping you at a distance, He is not standing far off waiting for you to get it together. He is already moving toward you.

John 3:16 reminds us that this pursuit cost Him everything. He loved the world so much that He gave His only Son. . It was the ultimate expression of a God who refuses to leave His people broken and alone.

The victory you need is not something you have to manufacture. It has already been won. Your job is simply to stop hiding and and step into HIs light. That is where restoration begins, not in your strength, but in His relentless, pursuing love.

FRIDAY, Oct 2

Your Greatest Weapon
Imagine trying to navigate a completely dark room without a flashlight. You might make it, but you would stumble, bump into things, and probably hurt yourself along the way. Now imagine someone hands you a light. Everything changes.

That is exactly what God's Word does for your life. Psalm 119:105 puts it simply and beautifully: it is a lamp for your feet and a light for your path. Not a floodlight that illuminates everything at once, but enough light for the next step. Enough truth to keep you moving in the right direction.

You cannot live a victorious life without knowing His Word. That is not an exaggeration. The enemy's primary weapon is deception, and the only reliable defense against a lie is the truth. Scripture is that truth. It is not just a collection of good advice or inspiring stories. It is the living Word of God, powerful and unshakeable.

The practical challenge is straightforward: you have to actually be in it – In the Word of God. Reading it. Memorizing it. Letting it shape how you see the world. A Bible that stays on the shelf cannot protect you from a lie that is already in your head.

Start small if you need to. One verse. One chapter. One consistent habit. The goal is not to impress anyone. It is to know the voice of your God so well that you immediately recognize when something else is speaking.

THURSDAY, Oct 1

The Battle Starts in Your Mind
Nobody wakes up one day and decides to walk away from God all at once. It happens gradually, one small compromise at a time. A thought entertained here. A boundary bent there. Before long, what once seemed unthinkable starts to feel completely reasonable.

This is not an accident. It is a strategy. The enemy understands that if he can shape the way you think, he can shape the way you live. That is why 2 Corinthians 10:5 calls us to take every thought captive and make it obedient to Christ. The battlefield is your mind.

Compromise rarely announces itself. It does not knock on the front door. It slips in quietly through the side, dressed up as something harmless or even logical. And once you have taken one step down that road, the next step feels easier.

But here is the good news: you are not at the mercy of every thought that crosses your mind. You have a choice in what you dwell on. You have the ability, through God's Spirit and God's Word, to recognize a compromised thought before it becomes a compromised action.

This is not about white-knuckling your way through temptation. It is about filling your mind so consistently with truth that lies simply do not have room to take root. Guard your mind today. What you allow in will eventually come out.

WEDNESDAY, Sept 30

Know the Playbook
Every great coach studies the opposing team before game day. You would not walk into a championship match without knowing what you are up against. The same principle applies to your spiritual life.

Genesis 3 reveals that the enemy has been running the same playbook since the beginning. He started by asking Eve, "Did God really say?" That one question planted a seed of doubt. From there, he moved to contradiction, then to dismissal of consequences, and finally to the promise that she could be her own God. Four lies, each one building on the last.

Here is what is striking: these are not new tactics. They are the same ones being used today, through culture, through media, through the quiet voice in your own head that says God's Word does not really apply to your situation.

John 8:44 describes the enemy plainly. He is a liar and the Father of lies. Deception is not just something he does. It is who he is. Recognizing that changes how you respond when doubt creeps in.

You are not helpless here. Awareness is powerful. When you can name the lie, you can reject it. And the more familiar you are with God's truth, the faster you will spot the counterfeit.

Today, pay attention to the thoughts that pull you away from trusting God. Chances are that one of those four lies is behind them.
