The Children's Breakfast Clubs

The Children's Breakfast Clubs For more than 35 years, we have provided healthy meals and educational, cultural, & recreational activities to thousands of children across Southern Ontario

The Children’s Breakfast Club History

In 1984, after consultation with community residents and the Metropolitan Toronto Housing Authority, the first Children’s Breakfast Club was opened in the Jane/Falstaff community. It was determined that many community needs and concerns could be addressed with a breakfast program:

A nutritious start to the day for children to help prevent behavioural problem

s, limited attention span, truancy and frequent tardiness
A safe place for parents to leave their children when they go to work. A warm and caring environment where children feel safe and supported. History PictureToday, the Children’s Breakfast Clubs operate programs in 20+ communities. The Clubs are established in collaboration with a number of community partners, including residents, agencies, schools and organizations. Each Club has a community advisory board of concerned residents who advise staff and shape program to best meet the needs of the community.

Welcome back to the TCBC KITCHEN! ⏲️

Today we’re making: Sheet Pan Sweet Potato Pancakes 🥞

Ingredients:
+ Pancake mix (e.g., Krusteaz)
+ Sweet potatoes (boiled and mashed)
+ Cinnamon powder
+ Brown sugar
+ Vanilla extract

Cooking Instructions:
* Mash the boiled sweet potatoes. Add cinnamon powder, vanilla extract, and brown sugar, then mix well.
* In a large bowl, whisk the pancake batter according to package instructions (for Krusteaz, just add water).
* Add the sweet potato mixture to the batter and whisk until smooth and well combined.
* Pour the batter into a prepared baking pan.
* Sprinkle additional cinnamon and brown sugar on top.
* Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 15–18 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean and the top springs back when touched.
* Let cool for a few minutes, then slice into portions.
* Serve with your choice of syrup, butter, powdered sugar, or all three!

This year, it’s more than just a bike ride🚴✨

For over 25 years, The Children’s Breakfast Clubs has partnered with local police services to bring the Healthy Lifestyle and Bike Program to youth across Southern Ontario.

This isn’t just about learning to ride, it’s about building confidence, independence, and community trust. Through hands-on workshops, students work side-by-side with officers to build their very own bikes, learn vital road safety, and discover the power of healthy living.

Why It Matters:
- For many participants, these bikes provide safe, reliable transportation to school, jobs, and community programs.
- Students and officers connect as mentors and friends, building genuine trust and mutual respect.
- The program culminates in the unforgettable event, where students celebrate their hard work with a bike ride!

👇HOW YOU CAN HELP!👇
This year, the program is expanding to empower 250 incredible students. But we can’t do it alone. To keep this momentum going and bridge the gap for youth who need it most, we need your support.

We are actively looking for funding partners to help sustain and grow this life-changing initiative. Reach out to us at [email protected] if you can donate!

Our bowls are FULL! 🥣🥛

Huge shout out to for their recent Cereal donation to our clubs.

While we love to provide our students with filling hearty meals to fuel their day… sometimes all we really want is a nostalgic bowl of cereal to start the day.

And luckily with the help of Upper Canada College, we can!

We recently received a generous donation of pet food from The Kibble Project!

Founded by Olympic and World Champion figure skater Elvis Stojko, The Kibble Project collects food and supplies for shelters, foster organizations and pet rescue groups who need their help.

A HUGE thank you to Elvis and Gladys for their generous contribution and support of our Pet Food Drive and supporting both families and seniors who have pets.
