🔥 Campfire Safety Reminder 🔥

Campfires, camp stoves & BBQs are Green Level activities for all branches — but safety always comes first!

Before you light a fire:
✅ Review the Safe Guide & Campfires Pocket Planner
✅ Check the NL Fire Index for local fire bans
✅ Keep tents & flammable items away from sparks
✅ Watch the weather — wind can spread sparks quickly
✅ Wear safe clothing (avoid fleece, nylon & polyester near flames)
✅ Keep plenty of water nearby to fully extinguish the fire

Remember: No campfire is permitted during an active fire ban.
Stay safe, stay prepared, and enjoy the outdoors responsibly! 🏕️🔥

White curved text at the top reads “Campfire Safety” with the hashtag “ ” underneath. The Girl Guides Newfoundland and Labrador Council logo appears in the bottom right corner.

: Safe Food & Water Edition! 💧🍎

Heading out on your next adventure? Whether you're camping, hiking, or hosting a unit sleepover, remember: safe food and water = happy, healthy participants!

Here’s what every Responsible Guider should keep in mind:
✅ Allergies & dietary needs? Always check and plan ahead.
✅ Prep & storage: Keep food fresh and stored properly.
✅ Clean-up: Sanitize food areas immediately after use.
✅ H2O matters: Provide enough safe drinking water for sipping, cooking, AND brushing teeth!
✅ Outdoor sources (like rivers/ponds)? Filter, treat or purify every time.
🚫 If in doubt? Toss it out!

Using a third-party caterer? Make sure they have valid licenses and proper food safety training. 🍽️
Pro tip for planning:
🧠 Follow Canada’s Food Guide
📚 Check out NL’s Food Safety Info (https://www.gov.nl.ca/.../publi.../envhealth/foodsafetyinfo/)
🎓 Take the FREE “Food Safety Basics” course at skillspassnl.co

Let’s keep every bite and sip safe and fun! 💪🍉

Congratulations are in order for the 19th St. John's Pathfinders and Rangers! The youth participated in the MATE ROV regional competition this weekend at Marine Institute for the first time.🥳🎉

After 6 weeks of intense work building their ROV, with the help of Engineering Students Brendan, Ben and Sophie, as well as expert tech support from David during competition, the team was proud to be awarded the “Rising tide” and “Pistol Shrimp” awards for being a small but mighty team that shows great potential for future competitions!⚙️💙

Member Monday: What needs approval?🤔

Have you been wondering what types of merchandise and creations need to be approved by your Provincial Marketing and Communications Adviser? Here are some general guidelines for merchandise that requires approval!💙

✅ Does your design include the Trefoil, and is it used properly?
✅ Does your design use the correct colour pallet?
✅ Does your design include text; if so, does it adhere to GGC brand standards?
✅ Was it created to be replicated more than once (Cricut, etc.)

If you answered yes to any of these questions, then yes! You're design does need to be approved by you Provincial Marketing and Communications Adviser. For GGCNL, these designs can be emailed to [email protected]

‼️ HOWEVER, if members are creating unique, one-of-a-kind crafts that are not intended to be sold, they do not require approval from Provincial Council. These such crafts can include knitting, crocheting, painting and colouring.‼️
