Huge thanks to the District of Sechelt for supporting this important community initiative through their Community Investment Program grant.

CFDC-SC is grateful to receive these funds on behalf of the Community Health Advisory Table (CHAT), a community-led group working to explore and advance new primary healthcare capacity on the Sunshine Coast.

While this $5,000 investment is modest in the scale of the overall project costs, it represents something much larger: one of the first direct financial contributions toward a collaborative, locally and community-driven response to the growing number of residents currently unattached to a family physician and/or access to care. Until now, this work has been powered almost entirely through volunteer leadership, collaboration, and significant in-kind contributions from partners like Community Futures and across the region.

There is still much more work ahead, including governance development, feasibility planning, physician engagement, site exploration, and future fundraising. But meaningful community change often starts with early signals of belief and momentum, and this support from the District helps move the conversation closer to action.

We’re proud to help convene and support this work alongside an incredible group of healthcare professionals, local leaders, and community advocates committed to strengthening healthcare access on the Sunshine Coast.
