When Board member Kevin Daoust laced up for the half marathon at the Tamarack Ottawa Race Weekend, he ran with purpose - for his brother, Steve. đź’™

Inspired by Steve, Kevin raised an incredible $4,155 for the DeafBlind Ontario Foundation!

Because of fundraising champions like Kevin, together we reached an amazing $13,160 - helping enrich the lives of the people we support.

How do people who are Deafblind communicate?

With varying degrees of sensory loss, each person will use their own unique and individual way to communicate. Here are just a few communication methods that may be used:

💙 Hand Over Hand – Signs are felt through touch instead of seen.
💙 Braille – A system of raised dots used for reading and writing.
💙 Print on Palm – Letters are traced onto the palm of the hand.
💙 Assistive Technology – Devices like refreshable Braille displays or text-to-speech apps help bridge communication.

This , let’s keep learning, sharing, and building awareness together!

Thank you, Peterborough Foundation! đź’™

Thanks to their generosity, we made accessibility enhancements at our Peterborough supported living home, ensuring the people we support live with safety, comfort, and independence. It was a privilege to come together with other local recipients at a recent gathering to celebrate this shared impact.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to connect, learn from one another, and share how these funds make a difference in our community. We’re proud to partner with the Peterborough Foundation in creating more accessible, inclusive spaces.

Today is International Yarn Bombing Day! 🧶

Yarn bombing - done during the month of June to celebrate National Deafblind Awareness Month - involves wrapping public spaces with knitted or crocheted yarn creations. These installations are not only visually striking but also serve as a metaphor for connection—between individuals, communities, and the broader world.

National Deafblind Awareness Month creates an opportunity to celebrate and recognize the contributions of Canadians who are deafblind. Each year, Canadians who are deafblind, service providers and supporters come together to “make a wave from coast to coast” to raise awareness through various activities and events - like yarn bombing.

Head to out website to check out all the locations you can find a yarn bombing installation this year: https://deafblindontario.com/event/national-deafblind-awareness-month/
