Every donation makes a difference and helps provide nutritious meals to members of our community. You can find our food donation bin conveniently located at the front of the store. This summer, we’re proud to be a drop-off location for the "FOOD4SUMMER" campaign in partnership with the incredible Loaves and Fishes Community Bank!

Did you know that summer can be a difficult time for families in need? It is often called the "hungriest season" because donations drop while demand increases.

We’re collecting non-perishable food items to help support them, and we need your help to make a difference!

From now until July 31st, you can drop off any non-perishable food items at our office. The next time you're in for an appointment, or just driving by, bring an item or two from the list in this post!

Together with Food Banks BC and Helicopters Without Borders, we’re helping good food reach communities across Vancouver Island and beyond.

A few times a year, Food Banks BC delivers food to Loaves & Fishes. From there, our team drives it to Port Hardy, where it is passed along to Helicopters Without Borders. They then fly the food to the ’Wuìk̓inux̌v Nation on the Wanukv River (Rivers Inlet), helping fresh and essential food reach a remote community that is not accessible by road.

We are so grateful for the partnerships that make this possible!

Sarah Pump, founder of Poverty Advocacy Nanaimo, knows how important low-barrier resources can be for people navigating poverty in our community.

PAN was created to help low-income Nanaimo residents find programs, organizations, and supports that can make day-to-day life a little more manageable. That same belief in accessible support is at the heart of Loaves & Fishes.

Food support should never come with shame or unnecessary barriers. Loaves & Fishes is here to help people access safe, edible food and move toward greater stability.

Long-time Loaves & Fishes donor Jeff B received compensation through the Canadian Packaged Bread Class Actions Settlement and chose to share his “slice” with others by donating it back to the community.

During our Food 4 Summer Campaign, every donation helps provide fresh, nourishing food to people across Vancouver Island when summer supports can be harder to access. Even better, donations made during the campaign are being matched, which means your gift can go twice as far.

🚴‍♂️🪨 WHEELY BIG NEWS! We are absolutely thrilled, honored, and bursting with gratitude to announce that the amazing folks at K2 Stone have officially entered team Pebble Pushes into the Trades de France! 🔨🧱🇫🇷

And guess what? The Pebble Pushes have chosen Loaves and Fishes as their charity of choice! 🍞🐟❤️

Trades de France is a month-long biking (and walking/running!) challenge where teams work together to cover the full distance of the Tour de France.

We are completely rolling with excitement! While the K2 Stone crew does all the heavy lifting (and heavy pedaling!), their incredible team is bringing awareness to L&F. Talk about a team that really rocks!

To team Pebble Pushes, we are cheering you on every single mile of the way! Let’s get rolling! 🚲💨

We’re excited to welcome K2 Stone to Trades de France 2026!

Their team, “Pebble Pushers,” will be competing this June to raise funds for Loaves and Fishes, supporting important work in our community.

We’re glad to have them on board and part of this year’s event.

June is right around the corner and it’s shaping up to be a great one.

Looking for a meaningful way to support your community? 🙌

Hosting a fundraiser for Loaves & Fishes is a great way to bring people together while helping increase access to food across Vancouver Island.

Whether it is a workplace food drive, a school fundraiser, a community event, or a larger initiative, every effort helps support the work of getting good food to people who need it. Cash fundraisers are especially helpful, and the Loaves & Fishes team can support approved events along the way.
