Happy Friday Friends! 👋

At 519Pursuit, we often talk about meals, hygiene supplies, survival gear, tents, and system navigation—but what truly sets our work apart is the community that stands behind it all.

This photo captures something bigger than an outreach shift. It captures friendship.

Every week, volunteers, staff, community members, and friends come together not just to deliver support, but to build relationships. We believe lasting change begins when people feel seen, valued, and connected. That’s why our approach has always been friendship-based.

For many of our friends facing homelessness, poverty, mental health challenges, or addiction, the most meaningful thing we can offer isn’t found in a care package—it’s knowing someone will keep showing up.

519Pursuit is more than an outreach team. We are a community of people walking alongside one another through life’s hardest moments. We celebrate victories together, navigate challenges together, and create spaces where everyone belongs.

Because at the heart of everything we do is a simple belief: every person deserves friendship, dignity, and a community that cares.

Happy Thursday Friends! 👋

This is a reminder that Saturday morning is another Donation Day and our staff and volunteers are eager to meet you. Donation Day is from 10:30AM-11:00AM on Saturday mornings at 203 Bathurst St London (City Centre Storage). Consider stopping by and helping us fill our outreach vehicles for the week! 😀

Here is Lou’s List of most needed items this week:
- Non-Perishable Snack items
- Juice boxes
- Tarps
- Sleeping Bags
- Blankets
- Dog food
- Cat food
- Brand new underwear, all gender, all sizes
- Adult sized clothing (Small Sizes)
- Large bottles of lotion
- Cases of water
- Backpacks
- Deodorant

Gentle reminder: we operate from a shared storage facility. It is important to never leave donations at door ways or outside. It is extremely important to always hand off your donation to a volunteer to ensure we get it. It is also important to note that using the door system to call the office does not connect you to our organization and the office is not always up to date with our operations. Happy Thursday Friends! 👋

A few weeks ago we kicked off a brand new partnership with working to support food security in our community. On April 1st, the kids of Federal funding welcomed new challenges and the loss of an extra 100 meals each day that our team was taking out into the community. Since then we have been fostering community relationships and trying to build back capacity one day at a time. This is where Meals That Matter began to flourish as a system that was also sending meals out into encampments.

On Thursday and Fridays each week Paul’s Place at St.Pauls Cathedral downtown London is serving two delicious meals supporting our friends facing homelessness and extreme poverty as well as other members of the London community who are facing food insecurity.

To continue to see this program flourish there is a need for more volunteers Friday mornings from 9am-1pm helping prepare and serve the meals. We are looking for folks who can dedicate their time once or twice a month as an individual or as groups. If you’re looking for a place to do team binding or team building look no further. Grow together while giving back to something incredibly meaningful in The City of London.

Happy Wednesday Friends! 👋

We are back with another post to invite you to join our ever growing team (and community) at 519Pursuit! ♥️

We are looking to accept volunteers to join our Donation Day team! This team is made up of amazing volunteers who keep our storage lockers sorted and our Outreach Teams ready to go each week. To join our Donation Day team here are a few things to consider first:
- Must be available Saturday mornings 10:00am/10:15am - 1:00pm (this is dependant on the amount of donations that come in, most likely to be done earlier than later)
- Must be able to commit to a shift or two monthly
- Must be able to take direct and work in a quicker paced environment (all donations are sorted on site when they come in and properly stored for easy access for our Outreach Teams.
- Must be able to work well in a team setting (you will have lots of fun with our volunteer team and welcoming the local community)
- Highschool students are accepted for this role
- Volunteers aged 12-15 must be accompanied by an adult. (Must be 12 to volunteer with a parent).
- Must be able to provide a vulnerable sector check

Happy Tuesday Friends! 👋

The sunshine today has us smiling and reminiscing on our Better Days Event last Monday! The weather was nice. Our staff and volunteers gathered. We were accompanied by our friends .training and we had an awesome time. From cleaning up the encampment to slowing down and spending time together. The delicious burritos from .ca was an added bonus!

As the weather gets warm we are reminded of the heat and what that does to our friends who survive outside all day. Water is important and so are electrolytes. If you’re heading out around the city and can pack an extra cold water bottle in your car for a friend in the community consider it. If you often see someone pan handling on your drives and know that you may come across someone standing in the heat for a long time - consider grabbing an extra water to carry with you. It’s easy to hand out the window quickly and it means a lot.

We are always accepting donations of cases of water and carry several on outreach each day. If you’d like to support with a donation you can bring a case to our Donation Days on Saturday mornings, get a grocery gift card and drop it off or you can donate directly on our website! www.519Pursuit.ca

This partnership with London Food Bank, RBC Place London - Ontario, Canada and YOU Made It Café means everything to our friends and our organization.

The 120 meals that go out every Monday - Friday support food security in our community. A meal is the first part of the interaction when supporting our friends and it’s the connection and friendship that follows which makes this partnership so much more meaningful. Sharing a meal with a friend in need is extremely important. Our staff and volunteers are showing up with immediate need items to start the day so that the focus can switch to how one can do better for themselves and the community after.

We are who we are today because of this partnership. There is so much strength in community and we’ve learned so much about that with these three community partners.

The London Food Bank took us in 6 years ago and helped us foster a BIG sense of community and stability allowing space to become independent. We are so lucky in London to have The London Food Bank and the many ways they are filing gaps with food security.

Our friends look forward to the meals each day - our staff and volunteers look forward to bringing them to friends.

Thank you to the team who makes this possible. Thank you to the chefs and youth who get up each morning and make sure the meals are ready to go.

Last year, the London Food Bank spent $360,200 for homeless meals for 519 Pursuit and Youth Opportunities Unlimited. That's over $2 million since the pandemic began. And it's thanks to this remarkable team team from RBC Place who prepare these quality meals everyday. And here they are this morning, back at it. They are incredible - as is RBC's commitment.
