Still in Dominic's hospital room, not wanting to leave his side for even a night, a support worker gently suggested something to the Goulets: that they needed to take care of themselves too, so they could be strong for him. That's how they found Ronald McDonald House Southwestern Ontario. For 145 nights, it became their second home.

Last night, we celebrated a very special milestone: Mulliganā€™s 1,000th visit to Ronald McDonald House Southwestern Ontario! šŸŽ‰šŸ¾

For families staying with us while their children receive care, a visit from Mulligan can turn a hard day into a moment of comfort, joy, and calm. His wagging tail, gentle presence, and endless cuddles have brought comfort to so many families, and heā€™s been there to help them feel at home when they need it most.

A heartfelt thank you to our incredible partners at St. John Ambulance Therapy Dog Program for making this possible. Your dedication and compassion make a real difference in the lives of our families at every single visit

Thank you, LiUNA Local 1059.

Last week, Local 1059 Business Manager Brandon MacKinnon joined us at the House to present a $100,000 capital investment in our expansion. Kate Horton, CEO of Ronald McDonald House Canada, was also here to celebrate with us.

This gift will help us make room for more families to stay together, close to their child in hospital. We're so grateful to have LiUNA's 6,000 workers behind this project.

It was also great to celebrate their support from this summer's Charity Golf Tournaments. Thank you to every member, employer and partner who made it possible.

Meet the Goulet family: Ashley, Serge, and their three kids, Dominic, Lucas, and Bailey, from Oliphant, a small community on Lake Huron.

A week before Christmas, they were doing what every family does that time of year, wrapping gifts, planning a holiday, imagining nothing bigger than what to make for dinner. Then came a doctor's appointment no one saw coming. Within days, everything they thought they knew about their lives was gone. They were hours from home, standing in Dominic's hospital room, and the only thing that still made sense was staying together.

Tomorrow is World Smile Day! It ā€™s a day that celebrates the power of a smile and how the smile on the Happy MealĀ® box helps bring more reasons to smile for families staying with Ronald McDonald House.

For families staying at Ronald McDonald House Southwestern Ontario, sometimes the biggest smiles come from the smallest moments of the day: For the Tsangaris family, it was the volunteers in our Family Room at LHSC. Over three months of their daughter Nia's treatment, they came to know the family by name, asked how things were going, and celebrated every win with them.

A warm meal can help a family heal. It's one of the simplest ways we care for families every day.

Yesterday, on the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, our volunteers and chefs prepared Three Sisters stew and bannock for the families staying with us. In many Indigenous traditions, corn, beans and squash are planted together because each one helps the others grow.

It was a chance to pause together, to learn and to remember. Every child matters.

Thank you to everyone who brought their time and care to our kitchen.
