Since 1985, Ronald McDonald House Charities Southwestern Ontario has been providing a home-away-from-home for families of sick and injured children.

Ten years ago, Kyleigh arrived a month early — already on her own schedule.

Born with a congenital heart defect, her first years included open-heart surgery at five months old, feeding tubes, and more resilience than most people find in a lifetime. Through every hard chapter, her family stayed. And Ronald McDonald House Southwestern Ontario made sure they could.

"The comfort and compassion shown to us during difficult times made a lasting impact on our hearts," says her mom, Kristy. "We will never forget it."

This past May, Kyleigh turned 10. Spirited, vibrant, and fierce — and still flashing that smile that has carried her family through every hard chapter.

It's World Milk Day, and honestly? The kids at Ronald McDonald House SWO have been celebrating all year. 🥛🧀

Cheese strings that vanish in seconds. Chocolate milk that somehow makes a hard day a little better. Parents enjoying a hot cup of coffee in the kitchen, just for a moment.

Today, our London House turns 41. 🧡

Forty-one years of families who stayed close. Children who weren't alone. Moments that happened because someone made sure they could.

When a child is in the hospital, family doesn't visit. They stay. They lose track of time. They sleep in chairs. They miss work, miss meals, miss everything except the one moment that matters most.

For 41 years, we've made sure no family had to face that alone. We gave them rest. Warmth. A hot meal. Something that felt like normal, even when nothing else was.

This spring, our community showed up.

Because of you, Meals from the Heart expanded and more families found support through our Family Room at LHSC. For the families who stayed with us this spring, these programs make all the difference.

The Boileau family, who stayed at Ronald McDonald House SWO for 99 nights while their infant son received specialized care, said it best:

"Because we could stay together, our family grew stronger every day."

This week, we had the honour of delivering gift baskets to some of the incredible nurses at LHSC — across the NICU, PCCU, HDTU, pediatric inpatient, and mental health units — as a small token of our appreciation.

This Mother's Day, we celebrate Hailey.

For nearly four months, she has lived at Ronald McDonald House London. Her baby needed the hospital, and she refused to be anywhere else. She held it together for her little ones every single day, in the hardest and most tender way a mother can.

In her words:

"Being able to call the Ronald McDonald House home for the last 4 months has been wonderful — giving me a place to keep my two older children close to me while having a preemie in the hospital. From the bottom of my heart, I am so grateful."

That's exactly why Ronald McDonald House exists. So that no family ever has to face one of the hardest chapters of their lives alone. So that every mom can stay close to the ones who need her most.
