Yesteday, May 6th, members of The New Vision Advocates and Community Living London team had an impactful experience at Community Living Day at the Legislature.

We had meaningful conversations with the honourable MPPs Terence Kernaghan Peggy Sattler Teresa Armstrong and Michael Parsa. Our conversations centered on the future of our sector, the importance of strong supports, and our shared goal of fostering inclusive, welcoming communities for all.

Thank you, MPP Teresa Armstrong for taking time to chat with us and the members of The New Vision Advocates yesterday when we visited for CL Day At The Legislature.

It was a big honour to welcome representatives from Community Living London and Community Living Ontario to Queen's Park yesterday! This was a wonderful opportunity for MPPs to learn more about how Community Living agencies across Ontario change the lives of those living with disabilities and their families πŸ’™

What a wonderful afternoon we shared at our Sibling Workshop on Friday, April 24th!

CLL Family Support Workers were thrilled to partner with Salvation Army London Village, Kids Country Club, and LHSC Pediatric Resource Centre to bring together an incredible group of siblings for a fun and meaningful experience.

We spent time learning about the Starfish Story. A beautiful reminder that even small acts can make a big difference. Inspired by this message, everyone created their own starfish keychains to take home.

The fun continued with a lively game of Spinclusion, where we explored different abilities and what it truly means to be inclusive. There were lots of laughs, thoughtful moments, and great conversations!

We wrapped up the day with our Sibling mixed Feeling Maps, giving participants a chance to share the things they love, as well as some of the challenges that can come with having a sibling with special needs. It was a powerful way to connect, reflect, and support one another.

A big thank you to the Parish of Holy Trinity St. Stephen’s Memorial in London for generously allowing us to use their space to host this workshop, we are so grateful for your support!

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make this workshop so special. We can’t wait to do it again!

Recently, Community Living London presented several training modules for staff and people supported thanks to a $196,600 grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation.

Through conversations with staff, families, and people supported, Community Living London identified a need for accessible resources across the developmental services sector. In response, new training modules were developed on key topics such as Human Rights, Abuse Prevention, Social Safety, and Diversity.

These modules are designed to meet the unique needs of both staff and the people supported. To ensure accessibility and inclusivity, the training will be delivered in multiple formats, including visual, written, and audio options.

This grant enables Community Living London to develop comprehensive teaching modules which in turn allow us to provide high quality supports to the people and families we serve every day.

THANK YOU TO THE ONTARIO TRILLIUM FOUNDATION!
