Torskeklubben of Edmonton Join us the first Tuesday of every month for a traditional meal of Torsk (Cod), good fellowship, and a shot of aquavit. Contact us for more details.

The idea of forming a "Torskeklubb" was brought to Edmonton by Sig Sorenson in 1969 after he attended the Minneapolis Torskeklubben. The first meeting of Torskeklubben of Edmonton was held on February 3rd 1970, with Dr Chester Ronning as the guest speaker. The first Bas or Boss was Harve Haugen. The first secretary was Grand Erickson, and Inge Anderson was the treasurer. Torskeklubben Rules:

2 - Be prepared to tell a good joke when called upon by the Bas
3 - Keep up attendance at regular Meetings

Norway's national team gathered on a fjord near Oslo for their official World Cup photo, dressed head to toe as a Viking army. Behind them: real working Viking longships, organized by the football federation. The man behind the camera is David Yarrow, the photographer who once shot Maradona lifting the World Cup trophy.

The photo is called "The Vikings are Coming," and the timing is perfect: Norway is back at the World Cup for the first time since 1998, after 28 long years.

Erling Haaland posted it with two words: "Viking blood." Fans are already calling it the greatest team photo ever.
