Edmonton Community Foundation Edmonton Community Foundation (ECF) strengthens the community by connecting donors to charities. After all, connecting people is what we do best.

ECF exists to help the people of Edmonton and area by encouraging philanthropy and funding charitable activities. Through contributions from donors, the Foundation assembles and administers permanent pools of capital so the returns can be perpetually reinvested in our community. The Foundation complements and supports other charitable agencies. We believe that with the right resources, it is possi

ble to strengthen Edmonton’s community. That is why we have spent years building strong relationships with donors, charities, volunteers, and community leaders. These relationships help us identify trends and priority needs in our city. They also help us provide the right resources to the right people, projects, and places. What happens when giving back becomes part of how a business grows?

Purpose becomes practice.

Through two funds held at ECF, Mosaic Home Services turns business success into support for community organizations.

In 2025, Mosaic granted $55,085 to 12 organizations, bringing its cumulative giving to $105,085 since 2024.

For a team of 54 franchisees, giving through ECF helps make philanthropy simple, strategic and shared.

What can one picture book spark?

A lifelong love of learning.

ECF teamed up with Edmonton Public Library (EPL) to put 5,000 new picture books into the hands of families across Edmonton and we are also supporting EPL's Children’s Enrichment Fund, held at ECF.

These are part of our wider commitment to early childhood development, helping children build curiosity, confidence and a strong start before they walk into their first classroom.

Mental health care can be hard to access. Language and cultural barriers can make it even harder.

With support from our Community Grants program, Edmonton Viets Association is helping make mental health services more accessible for Edmonton’s Vietnamese community.

Their new program includes counselling, support groups, workshops and outreach for youth, adults and seniors, with a focus on reducing stigma and making it easier to ask for help.

A clear plan.

With support from a $9,000 ECF Small Grant, the Alberta SPCA is building its 2025-2029 strategic plan to better coordinate care and address the root causes of animal neglect.

It’s a capacity investment that helps strengthen the organization’s response for animals and the people who care for them.

Dignity takes root.

That's the idea behind The Plexes led by Niginan Housing Ventures. It's a 28-unit, 56-bed development creating safe, stable homes for community members.

Supported by a $200,000 ECF grant, it is one of nine housing commitments ECF made in 2025 as part of a broader goal to help house 5,000 Edmontonians by the end of 2028.
