Every year, Edmonton sees up to 1,000 high-risk intimate partner violence (IPV) cases, highlighting the need for faster, more coordinated support for survivors.

Since 2025, our team has worked alongside the Edmonton Police Service, YWCA Edmonton, and other frontline agencies as part of the Integrated Domestic Violence Response Team (IDVRT).

IDVRT helps connect survivors to the right supports at the right time through coordinated safety planning, trauma-informed care, and stronger collaboration across services.

By working together, we can respond more effectively and help prevent further harm across Edmonton.

June is National Indigenous History Month, a time to recognize and celebrate the histories, cultures, languages, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples across Canada.

At enCompass, we know that understanding history helps us strengthen relationships, provide culturally informed services, and better support the individuals, families, and communities we serve.

Throughout the month, we will be sharing opportunities to learn, reflect, celebrate, and take action as part of our ongoing commitment to reconciliation.

Addressing mental health stigma means creating spaces where people feel safe asking for support. In 2025, we hosted over 400 individuals in our emotion management courses, provided free counselling onsite for our clients, and started a peer-support program for clients.

This Mental Health Awareness Month and beyond, let’s keep showing up for real conversations where people can speak honestly and be met with understanding.

Change starts when people feel heard and supported.

Appearing in court as a complainant or witness in a domestic violence case can be emotionally taxing and overwhelming.

The Remote Testimony Room in Edmonton is a private, trauma-informed environment where survivors and witnesses can provide testimony separate from the courtroom and distanced from the accused.

Equipped with the latest AV technology and managed by a Domestic Violence Justice Response (DVJR) staff member, this testimonial aid makes it easier for individuals to participate in the justice process.

This Victims and Survivors of Crime Week, we’re reflecting on both the impact of our work and the need for continued action across Alberta.

From 2022 to 2025, our Family Violence Prevention Centre (FVPC) provided 140,621 services to 6,597 individuals in Edmonton and surrounding areas, while maintaining a 98% client satisfaction rate.

At the same time, family and domestic violence continues to impact far too many people in Alberta. The province continues to see some of the highest rates of police-reported family violence in Canada, with record levels reported in 2023–2024.

To anyone experiencing violence or abuse: you are not alone. Help is available.

Our Family Violence Services Impact Report shares more about the people we supported and why continued investment and collaboration in support matters:

Youth homelessness is often shaped by a lack of coordinated and accessible supports for young people facing complex challenges.

NOVA plays an essential role by helping youth in Edmonton navigate systems and access the services they need.

Providing short-term supportive housing, NOVA residents are guided through a client-led process identifying barriers, setting goals in legal, health, employment, finance and housing, and working together to achieve these goals.

We’re proud to share that in 2025, NOVA provided services 6,607 times, with all residents reporting increased confidence in daily living skills, and 100% of community stakeholders agreed NOVA makes a valuable contribution in addressing youth housing needs in the community.

Over the past three decades, our programs have consistently supported families escaping violence, meeting them with services, but also with care and belief in what they deserve.

As one client shared, support meant more than just creating a safety plan, it meant finally believing they deserved one. From connections to legal aid to furnishing a new home, these moments reflect the kind of wraparound, trauma-informed care our teams provide every day.

What began as a coordinated response to family violence, our Family Violence Prevention Center has become an essential resource to those in Edmonton and surrounding communities.
