MexPup WAFFLES – Forever in Our Hearts
RIP • August 12, 2026

Everyone loved Waffles. That was how she got her name. We thought a catchy name would help a brown pitty mix stand out in a crowd of so many dogs looking for homes. She loved people and won over many hearts, but a no other pet home isn’t easy to find especially when you look like so many other dogs in so many other photos. Months and then years passed without a single application coming in for her. She had a loving safe place to live and she received great care, but we had always wanted her to have a “regular” home…sadly that dream was never fulfilled. Her health deteriorated quickly over the past two weeks and we all knew it was time to say goodbye. We’re sorry that “our” dreams for her didn’t happen, but she always knew she was loved and she did have a home with people that loved her and that she loved. We are eternally grateful to Tibet Canino for all the love they gave her and caring for her throughout all these years. Waffles is now without pain running free over the rainbow bridge. Everyone love Waffles.

AKINA IS IN VANCOUVER AND LOOKING FOR HER FUREVER HOME AGAIN

Sometimes circumstances change, and sadly, Akina has found herself back in need of a home, through absolutely no fault of her own. Her adopter’s circumstances changed, and now this incredibly sweet girl is looking for the loving forever home she deserves.

Akina is just under 2 years old and around 30lb. Everyone who knows Akina will tell you the same thing: she is one of the sweetest dogs you could ever meet. She is affectionate, loves being around people, and is not timid in the slightest. She has been wonderfully socialized, spending lots of time around people and different environments, which has helped her become even more confident and comfortable with new people.

Akina is very well behaved and has such a wonderful balance to her personality. She can happily relax and chill for hours, but she is also ready to run, play, and have fun when the time is right. She seems to know exactly when it's time to settle down and when it's time to be silly and active. She is also a fairly quiet girl. She doesn't bark just to bark, but she is very observant and will let you know if something is wrong or there is an intruder. She is incredibly intuitive and very good at reading people's energy.

Akina loves playing with other dogs and has enjoyed plenty of time at dog parks. She has also developed excellent recall with the people she knows and trusts. She has been able to enjoy off-leash walks with her familiar person, although we would absolutely recommend that a new adopter take time to build trust and a relationship with her before allowing her off leash. Like many dogs, she can get excited when she sees little critters and may want to chase them, but she responds very well to a trusted voice command.

Akina has so much love to give, and what she needs now is someone who will give her the stability, patience, love, and forever home she deserves. Her return was not because of something she did. Her adopter’s circumstances changed. Akina is still the same sweet, affectionate, well-behaved girl she has always been, and she deserves the chance to find her true forever family.

HOLDEN is in a PV Foster & Looking for a Loving FurEver Home

~ ONE KIND STRANGER SAVED HIS LIFE, NOW HE IS WAITING FOR A FAMILY

There was a dog standing outside a restaurant, hoping that someone would share a little food with him. He was in heartbreaking condition—confused, weak, severely dehydrated, anemic, and covered in fleas and ticks. He had clearly been struggling to survive on his own for a while. A kind man who was in town on vacation could not walk away. He fed him and immediately took him to a veterinarian for urgent medical care. When it was time for him to return home, he left him in the veterinarian's care, covered all of his medical expenses, and made sure he had a chance at a better life. He also searched for help to find a safe shelter and, when contacted, Claudia with her big heart said yes and he was welcomed to the shelter.

Holden is about 7 years old, weighs around 30 kilos, and is a loving Belgian Shepherd mix.

Holden enjoys long walks, hiking adventures, and exploring the outdoors, but after he has had his exercise, he can be just as happy stretching out on the couch for a relaxing evening. He loves car rides, walks beautifully on a leash, and is not bothered by loud noises. Like many dogs, Holden has his own unique personality and while he can socialize with other dogs under supervision and even enjoys playing with a calm female friend at the shelter, he prefers not to share his space with dogs who challenge him. He is not the type to start conflicts, but if another dog repeatedly provokes him, he will stand his ground. Because of this, Holden would thrive best as the only dog in the home. He has not interacted with cats and has a strong instinct to chase birds, so a cat-free home is recommended. Holden would love a home with a securely fenced yard where he has room to run and play. Respectful children would make wonderful companions for him, and he would be happiest with a family that enjoys spending time outdoors and including him in everyday adventures. More than anything, Holden is looking for what every dog deserves: someone to love him, protect him, and never let him wonder where he belongs again; he has already survived the hardest chapter of his life and now he deserves the happiest one.

We are so happy to post that sweet Olive finally had her knee surgery on June 30th and is resting comfortably in her Victoria BC foster home. Thank you everyone that donated to help us help Olive, for all of your positive thoughts and prayers. She has a bit of healing road ahead of her but we are hopeful she will make a full recovery. Huge shout out to her foster mom Cat and the outstanding care that she received at Saanichton Village Vet.

RICKY is in his FurEver home

This sweetheart is looking for a family to love and cuddle. Ricki is a 4 year old min pin/chihuahua (best guess) in a Duncan BC foster home waiting for his perfect family.
Ricki is shy around new people when people come into his foster home, he is getting better. It took him 2 days to warm up to his foster family but now follows them around looking for love. He is sweet and goofy, loves his toys and playtime with other dogs (no idea how he is with cats)
A calm loving home with a person/people that enjoys walks as much as he does. He is treat motivated (has a wee bit of weight to shed) and is the best cuddler once he feels safe and trusts you.
He has been in his current foster home for less than a week and has fit right in with the fur kids and humans. He will follow you anywhere, even the bathroom if you let him lol.

PupDate from Lenny's family !!!

Lenny (formerly Huizapol) has been with us since March 12th. From the very first couple of days, it was clear that he felt at home. Within days, it seemed like he'd been part of our family forever.

He was immediately great with our other two Mexpups. He gives us lots of kisses and is addicted to cuddling, hopping onto our laps as soon as we sit down. He's extremely friendly, very social, and a little derpy—the perfect little guy.

Like many street dogs, Lenny has been through a lot before making his way to BC. Since arriving, he has had eight teeth removed, we learned that his jaw had previously been broken and healed improperly, and we discovered that he's blind in one eye and will likely lose sight in the other due to a degenerative retinal disease (SARDS). You would never know it, though. His spirits and enthusiasm for life never seem to waver.

He is remarkably resilient. We can learn a lot from our dogs about how to face adversity, and Lenny is no exception. Despite everything he's been through, he approaches each day with joy, affection, and an endless desire to be our shadows. He follows us everywhere. He's already carved a place in our hearts, and we love him so much 😊

PupDate from Dylan's family !!!

My wonderful sweet, calm and cuddly MexPup Dylan (formerly Dillon) arrived from Mexico on April 24, 2026 and we bonded instantly. He is literally the best pup ever. He loves to go for walks and hikes in the forest, and to romp in the ocean. He also goes up to say hello to every person or dog he meets along the way. Dylan loves his belly rubs and he’s definitely is a Mexican Bedhog. Lol 😂

I would like to send a huge thank you to everyone at MexPup for all they’ve done for Dylan and I, and a special thanks to Grace at LADRA for the incredible work she did with Dylan. My experience with MexPup has been top-notch and I highly recommend them for anyone looking to foster or adopt a dog from Mexico. What an amazing team !

IN BC AND LOOKING FOR A HOME
We are searching for a new forever home for Mexpup Sugar🩷
Sugars family love her dearly, and this decision has not been easy, but due to some unforeseen health changes in her owners life this is ultimately the best decision for Sugar.
Sugar is an 11 year old terrier/ poodle mix. She weighs approximately 15lbs and is good with calm dogs and kids. Cats are unknown. She loves walks and car rides. She can be a bit shy but warms up after calm intros. She may be slightly losing some vision just due to age. She isn’t super cuddly but likes to lay next to her person and paw you so that you pet her.

PupDate from Murphy's family !!!

"Murphy has been with us 6 years and he’s truly the best thing that’s ever happened. He is so smart and loving. Not to mention his stunning hair ! His favorite things are running fast and bed. He struggles with reactivity, so we were concerned last year when we brought home a 5 week old kitten whose mom had passed. However, Murphy was instantly in love with her. He had never seen anything so small and cute and his excitement was tangible. He took to his role as her dad so well.

Murphy has PREFERENCES. And he lets you know. He likes his food in a certain bowl in a specific place. He likes to be under the blankets in bed, between mom and dad. He will tell you if he needs you to roll over. He likes the other dogs to be quiet, and doesn’t put up with barking. Murphy has shown me (mom) what a soul dog is. Our other dogs are very loved, but Murphy is my soulmate and he doesn’t want to share. He will share, but you have to pay the Murphy tax first (lots of scratches and pets). He likes to be cuddling with me 24/7. Together is his favorite place. I like to say that we are together in holy Matrimurphy.
