🏠 Protect Indigenous homes. Extend Urban Native Housing agreements.
More than 5,000 Indigenous families across BC could be impacted if expiring Urban Native Housing operating agreements are not extended.
These homes provide more than affordable housing. They support family stability, cultural connection, and the wellbeing of Indigenous people in urban communities across Canada.
As the federal government prepares to release its budget on November 5, there is a critical opportunity to protect these homes and prevent further housing insecurity.
AHMA is urging the federal government to:
✅ Extend expiring Urban Native Housing operating agreements.
✅ Protect existing affordable homes for Indigenous families.
✅ Provide certainty and stability for Indigenous housing providers and the communities they serve.
Allowing these agreements to expire without a replacement would put thousands of families at risk and deepen an already critical housing crisis.
Indigenous families deserve housing security, not uncertainty. The federal government must act before it's too late.
