The Samaritan's Purse Disaster Assistance Response Team is composed of a roster of on-call professionals trained to respond within a complex international environment to save lives and reduce suffering in the name of Jesus Christ. “We are ambassadors for Christ” (2 Corinthians 5:20).

Construction has started on our Ebola Treatment Centers in Ituri Province as we continue to equip our longtime partner hospital in Nyankunde and train medical workers in use of personal protective equipment.

Our infection prevention programming has reached more than 12,000 Congolese across nearly two dozen health zones. We have also installed scores of handwashing stations and trained communities in proper sanitation and hygiene protocols. More than two dozen Disaster Assistance Response Team (DART) members are serving in the area.

Samaritan’s Purse is hard at work in the Democratic Republic of the Congo as the Ebola outbreak spreads.

Team members have already installed more than 50 handwashing stations and are providing education to thousands on how to prevent disease transmission.

Yesterday, we distributed personal protective equipment to our partner hospital in Nyankunde to help protect their staff as they fight the deadly virus. We are also working to establish an Ebola Treatment Center to provide hands-on patient care.

Sudan’s civil war has been catastrophic and is intensifying. Families like Amna’s* are being driven from their homes by drones, missiles, and other unspeakable horrors.

Amna, 24, arrived at an internally displaced people’s camp hungry, afraid, and with little more than the clothes on her back. She came with her mother, two little sisters, and other relatives. Soldiers had taken nearly everything they owned. “We didn’t have food,” she told us. “If we stay [at home], we will die.”

Samaritan’s Purse is working at the camp where Amna fled—providing food, shelter, safe water, cooking supplies, and medical care in Jesus’ Name. With your prayers and support, we are providing life-saving assistance to as many people as we can.

Samaritan’s Purse is preparing an airlift for the Democratic Republic of the Congo in response to the deadly Ebola outbreak!

This weekend, our 767 cargo plane will carry an Ebola Treatment Center and personal protective equipment to help safeguard healthcare providers. The 767 will land in Uganda then supplies will be transported to the Democratic Republic of the Congo where many people are suffering.

Fear and uncertainty is increasing in Central Africa as the virus spreads. We are responding in Jesus' Name to help fight this outbreak and remind families they are not alone.

As the deadly Ebola virus continues to spread across the Democratic Republic of the Congo and other parts of Central Africa, countless families are living in fear and danger. Samaritan's Purse is responding in Jesus' Name. A Disaster Assistance Response Team (DART) is deploying to the hard-hit nation.
