🍂 The season changes. Our commitment continues. ❤️

While Clearwater Retreat’s cabins are closed for the season, the work here continues—and so does the work at all five of our Veterans Food Banks in Calgary, Edmonton, Red Deer, Victoria, and Kelowna.

Behind every welcoming door is a hardworking team loading and unloading trucks, stocking and rearranging shelves, helping guests access groceries, assisting with financial and housing needs, and taking time to lend a listening ear.

There is so much that goes into making sure our veterans, first responders, and their families feel loved, supported, and cared for. Sometimes it’s finding food for the table. Sometimes it’s help with the next step. Sometimes it’s simply having someone listen.

To our staff and volunteers across CVSS: we see the heart you put into this work, and we thank you. You keep things moving—and you keep people at the center of it all.

Because Service Never Ends.

🍁 There’s thanks in giving.

This Thanksgiving, we’re grateful for the kindness that brings our communities together—and mindful of those whose service and sacrifice we will never forget, especially those who gave their all.

If giving is part of your Thanksgiving tradition, food or monetary donations to any Canadian Veterans Services Society branch are a thoughtful way to support Veterans, first responders and their families.

A little shared kindness can mean groceries on a table and the comfort of knowing someone cares.

Please contact your local branch for donation details. To our donors, volunteers and supporters: thank you for helping us care for those who have served. ❤️

Because Service never Ends.

🍁 This Thanksgiving, we remember those whose table may look different. 🍁

As families prepare to gather, we’re thinking of our Veterans and First Responders who may be far from loved ones, working to keep our communities safe, or facing the holiday alone. We also hold their families in our hearts, knowing there may be an empty chair at the table.

And we remember those worried about how they will afford groceries, let alone a Thanksgiving meal.

You deserve nourishment, connection, and care. If you need food this Thanksgiving, please reach out to your local CVSS Veterans Food Bank. Asking for support is a step you never have to be ashamed of.

If you’re able to give, a donation of food or funds can help ease that worry. A phone call, an invitation, or a few moments of kindness can also remind someone they haven’t been forgotten.

From all of us at CVSS and Clearwater Retreat, thank you to those who serve, those who have served, and the families beside them. You remain in our thoughts this Thanksgiving—and every day.

Because Service never Ends.

BIG PLANS. BIG HEARTS. BIG EXCITEMENT!

Have you ever been so excited about something that it becomes almost impossible to keep the surprises quiet? That is exactly how we are feeling at Clearwater Retreat!

We are already preparing for an incredible 2027 season—and there is so much happening behind the scenes:

🏡 More cabins so we can welcome and care for more veterans, serving members, first responders and their families.

🍽️ A bigger and better kitchen where meals, conversations, celebrations and connections can be shared.

✨ And one more very exciting feature still to be unveiled…

What could it be? We’re not telling—yet!

There are plans to finalize, funds to raise and plenty of work ahead, but our excitement is growing every day. With the support of our donors, volunteers, businesses and communities, we are building more than facilities.

We are building places to rest, reconnect, heal and belong.

Stay tuned—2027 is going to be full of surprises!

Because Service Never Ends.

🍂 THE RETREAT MAY BE CLOSING, BUT OUR DOORS ARE ALWAYS OPEN

As another beautiful season at Clearwater Veterans Retreat draws to a close, we want our veterans, serving members, first responders, and families to know that our care and connection does not end with the season.

You are always welcome to stop in for a coffee, a conversation, or simply a quiet moment away from the noise of the world.

You do not need a special reason. You do not need to explain. Sometimes, we all need a safe place to sit, breathe, and know that someone is there.

Clearwater is more than cabins and gatherings—it is a place of belonging, understanding, and hope.

The season may be changing, but you are never alone. Our door is open, the coffee is warm, and you are always welcome here.

For more information, please contact us at [email protected] or (403) 371-2059.
