For over 20 years, Calgary Seniors has been providing much needed and innovative services that prevent and reduce social isolation, and support seniors to live independently to the greatest extent possible.

Every Sunday, two leashes, one walk, and a friendship that started because of a mom. 🐾

Heather volunteers with Calgary Seniors because of what community meant to her own mother, aging independently, far away, held up by the people around her.

This Mothers' Day, Heather's giving that forward. Not just for today's seniors, but for every senior who comes after. Her ongoing gifts to our Legacy Fund will grow, year after year, long after the leashes are hung up and the walks are done.

Heather first got involved with Calgary Seniors because of her mom.

Her mother lived independently in Vancouver, and Heather, watching from a distance, wanted to give back here in Calgary. She knew that there had to be seniors locally who also needed support, and this was a way she could create the same kind of community connection that was helping her mom to thrive on the coast.

And so began Heather’s journey as a Calgary Seniors’ volunteer…She started going on dog walks with her senior match every Sunday, and quickly felt the magic in making a difference. Moved by these connections in 2025, she became our Founding Legacy Donor, making a $10,000 gift to launch our permanent endowment fund.

And she didn't stop there. Heather is now matching every gift made to the Legacy Fund in 2026, up to another $10,000!

Heather's gift will help Calgary Seniors for decades to come. Yours can too.
