Today, we take a stand!

We are joining Albertans across the province to send a clear message to this government: you have gone too far.

From the privatization of our healthcare and the erosion of working-class rights, to the sale of our natural spaces and the direct targeting of vulnerable people, our communities are under attack.

When public services are dismantled, working families pay the price.

We cannot sit this one out. It’s time to fight back.

Today, May 28, marks Menstrual Health Day, a global initiative dedicated to breaking down period stigmas, highlighting the importance of menstrual hygiene, and advocating for universal access to products. The date itself is a symbolic reminder, representing the average 28-day cycle and 5-day period duration.

At UFCW 401, we believe that menstrual products are a basic necessity, not a luxury. Access to these products in the workplace is a matter of dignity, health, and equality.

We are actively campaigning to include free menstrual products in our collective agreements, ensuring employers provide these basic necessities by contract. At the same time, we are pushing for legislative changes across Alberta so every worker has access.

But we need your help to build momentum. Join the movement to support workers and ensure fair, equitable workplaces for everyone.

BIG victory for workers around the world!

UFCW Canada is joining trade unionists around the world in welcoming a landmark ruling from the International Court of Justice affirming that the right to strike is protected under international law.

The Court’s opinion confirms that workers’ rights to organize, take collective action, and withdraw their labour are fundamental freedoms protected under ILO Convention No. 87 on Freedom of Association and Protection of the Right to Organize.

This historic decision represents a major victory for workers and unions globally, especially at a time when collective bargaining rights and trade union freedoms continue to face challenges in many countries.
