Woezo Africa officially launched their UNGANISHA Anti-Black Racism Commitment Project at the Werklund Centre on Monday. This six-month residency (January to June 2026) supports African, Caribbean, and Black youth aged 19 to 30 by building leadership skills, expanding professional networks, providing hands-on experience, and offering a $3,000 honorarium.
Supported by the Department of Canadian Heritage, we welcomed 15 Emerging Professionals selected from 68 applicants. They will begin placements with seven partner organizations: Heritage Park, Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, Rozsa Foundation, Dance Studio West, The Confluence, ActionDignity, and the Centre for Newcomers.
The launch brought together Emerging Professionals, community and business leaders, and government representatives for Anti-Black Racism training, interactive sessions, and a shared African and Caribbean lunch.
We look forward to sharing this cohort’s impact. ✨🎊
