​Our committee is built on three unbreakable pillars:
🔒 100% Confidential: No paper trails, no corporate records, no management involvement. What happens in ProStans stays in ProStans.

🤝 Completely Voluntary: We are here to facilitate resolution, never to force it.

🛑 Non-Punitive: We do not discipline, judge, or punish. We offer a safe space for pilots to find common ground and maintain flight deck harmony.

Introducing the WestJet Encore MEC Professional Standards Committee. ✈️

Safety, crew unity, and professionalism are the flight plan for everything we do.

As ALPA members, we hold ourselves to the highest standards in aviation — and now we have a dedicated committee to uphold them. The Professional Standards Committee is a pilot-to-pilot resource focused on open communication, mutual respect, and resolving concerns before they become formal issues. No paperwork. No discipline. Just pilots looking out for pilots.

Last night, a CRJ-900 operated by Jazz Aviation LP was involved in an accident with an emergency vehicle on runway 4 at LGA. Both flight crew members aboard the CRJ were fatally injured several passengers and a cabin crew member were injured, as well as firefighters operating the emergency vehicle.

Our condolences go out to our fellow aviators at Jazz, their loved ones and our colleagues at Jazz Aviation during this heartbreaking time.

The NTSB is the lead investigating agency and will provide all official updates. ALPA’s investigative team is travelling to LaGuardia today to support the NTSB investigation.

We at ALPA Canada and members of our Pilot Assistance Canada team recognize that events like this can have a significant impact on both our professional and personal well-being. For our members, please know that you are not alone. Support is available, and we strongly encourage anyone who needs it to reach out.

Again, our hearts go out to everyone affected and their loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.

Did you know?

Under Section 5-14.03/04, if a Pilot is scheduled, assigned, or awarded a final leg Deadhead that exceeds the maximum Flight Duty Period, they must be provided a premium seat and listed for upgrade to the highest available class.

If no premium or higher-class seat is available at boarding and the Pilot Deadheads in economy, they will receive a $300 stipend in lieu of the premium seat.

This does not apply when a Pilot:
• Makes a personal pairing modification
• Is Deadheading after an absence from the workplace
• Is Deadheading due to a delayed flight

If a Pilot voluntarily selects a lower-class seat, they are not eligible for the stipend.
