We had so much fun with this residency! Thank you for giving our artists the opportunity to lead and learn from your students.

Calgary Board of Education's Emilly Follensbee School recently hosted a residency by the National AccessArts Centre presented by TD (NaAC), made possible through a grant from the Kaiti Perras Love of Dance Memorial Fund at EducationMatters.

NaAC provides artistic training, creation, and exhibition opportunities for artists with disabilities. Emily Follensbee School provides educational programming for medically fragile students with complex learning needs.

“For our students, the opportunity to engage in dance and work alongside artists with disabilities is always powerful and inspiring,” says Jennifer Hart, principal at Emily Follensbee.

“Every student found their own unique way to participate, express themselves, and connect through movement and music. Watching our classes come together to celebrate and showcase their learning was truly meaningful.”

Please join us in welcoming our new Coordinator, Audio and Music Programming, Simon Tumasz-Jordan!

Simon (they/them) is a musician from Calgary, Alberta. They hold a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Calgary, where they specialized in early music performance practice as a vocalist and organist. Their studies encompassed music history, theory and composition, and education. Simon has been active on Calgary’s music scene for nearly two decades as a performer, songwriter, and producer of various projects. They have collaborated with artists worldwide and toured extensively in Canada, the United Kingdom, Europe, and the United States. Simon is continually inspired by electronic instruments and techniques, and firmly believes that the digital tools available today can make music creation accessible to anyone.

We're so excited to have you, Simon! Welcome to the NaAC Team.

Our biggest investment: people.

At NaAC, our staff are the mentors, facilitators, and supporters who work alongside artists every single day. They're the reason our programs exist in the way they do.

This video shares a bit about why they've chosen this work – and why it matters so much.

Your donation today supports the people who make accessible arts possible. Every gift helps us continue showing up for our artists.
