October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month - an opportunity to recognize the skills, perspectives and contributions people with disabilities bring to workplaces and communities.

Meaningful inclusion goes beyond simply being present. Accessible and inclusive workplaces make space for different ways of communicating, contributing, problem-solving and participating.

This month, we join communities across Canada in recognizing the importance of workplaces where people with disabilities have opportunities to contribute and be valued for what they bring.

⚽️Kicking things off! Our first day of soccer was a success! We learned new skills, got some practice in, and had a whole lot of fun.

A big thank you to Acadia Community Association and Vision Sports Centre for helping us kick off the program! ⚽️

National Day for Truth and Reconciliation 🧡

Please note that AAFS offices are closed and all regular programming is paused today, Wednesday, September 30.

AAFS stands in solidarity with Indigenous Peoples and remains committed to the ongoing work of reconciliation. We recognize that closing our programs is only one small gesture. We encourage our families to use the day as an opportunity to learn, reflect, and take part in something meaningful that honours Survivors, their families, and the children who never returned home.

VAULT’s surprise road trip took them to Nanton! They spent the day at the Bomber Command Museum, checking out the Hive Nation Market, and finished off at the candy store! They hit the scenic route on their way back into Calgary, enjoying a custom playlist made by the members.
