DRIVING FOR WORK

WorkSafeBC statistics for 2020-2024 show that an average of 21 workers die from work-related vehicle crashes annually.

~1700 are injured and off work from work-related vehicle crashes every year.

Are we overlooking one of the most common workplace hazards?

Safety railings and guardrails are more than workplace requirements…they are lifesaving barriers.

Constable John Petropoulos lost his life while investigating a break-and-enter at a warehouse where a safety railing was missing. Had a guardrail been in place, he may have returned home to his family that day.

Safety measures exist for a reason: they protect lives.

However, they need to be in place. It’s an employer’s responsibility to ensure they are.

It’s extremely windy and rainy in southern Alberta today.

💨 If extreme winds are strong enough to make you question your safety, they’re strong enough to stop the task.

💨Recognizing when conditions are unsafe is one of the most important safety decisions you’ll make.

💨As the wind picks up, so should your awareness.

💨Secure equipment, wear appropriate PPE, maintain three points of contact when climbing, and never underestimate the power of Mother Nature🌬️🌬️

⚠️⚠️Stay away from the rivers this weekend.

🚨 🚨 The Bow and Elbow rivers are above safe levels, and the Calgary Fire Department has issued a boating advisory that is now in effect. Please stay off the river for your safety and for emergency responders.

High, fast-moving water, cold temperatures, and debris are creating dangerous conditions, with poor visibility making hazards harder to spot. Pathway and underpass closures along the Bow and Elbow Rivers are expected to begin this weekend.
