Parents and guardians: Please take a few minutes to review crosswalk & pedestrian safety with your children before they head back to school.

👀 Look all ways before entering a crosswalk.

🚶 Use designated crosswalks.

🚦 Follow pedestrian signals.

📱 Put distractions away.

🎧 Don’t wear earphones while crossing roads.

👯‍♂️Look out for one another.

🚘 Watch closely for turning cars.

😳Make eye contact with the drivers before crossing.

🚧 Missing safety railing → a missed life.

Guardrails and safety railings aren't just decorative…they are life-saving barriers.

They help prevent workers from falling from elevated surfaces, into openings, or onto dangerous equipment. They can also help prevent tools and materials from falling onto workers below.

If a guardrail is missing, damaged, or improperly installed, don't walk past it.

Report it. Correct the hazard.

CST Petropoulos would be alive today had a required safety railing been in place.

A missing guardrail can be the difference between going home safely and never going home at all.

Faulty or poorly maintained machinery can put a worker’s life at risk.

⚠️Employers have a responsibility to ensure equipment is properly maintained, regularly inspected, and safe to operate.

🔧 Don’t wait for an incident to reveal a problem.
🛑 Stop. Inspect. Fix it.

Fix the problem before someone gets hurt.

Parents and guardians, take a few minutes to review crosswalk and pedestrian safety with your children before they head back to school.

✔️ Is the scaffold properly erected and inspected?
✔️ Are guardrails and toe boards in place?
✔️ Is it stable and free from hazards?
✔️ Are you using the proper fall protection?

Talking with children about personal safety doesn’t have to be scary. These tips can help start important conversations & help children recognize unsafe situations & where to find help if they need it.

✅ Teach children that strangers are people they don’t know.
✅ Remind them never to accept rides, gifts, treats or invitations from someone they don’t know.
✅ Encourage children to stay in approved play areas and routes.
✅ Help them identify trusted adults they can turn to if they feel lost, scared or need help.
✅ Parents are encouraged to engage in regular conversations and role-play different situations to help children learn to manage these situations.
