Naismith Men's Shed

Naismith Men's Shed Men Sheds have a global presence with chapters in Australia, the United Kingdom, Canada and the United States.

They offer men a social circle to belong to and a lifeline to men in crisis due to depression, isolation, bereavement or feelings of low esteem. Our shed in Mississippi Mills is called Naismith to honour Almonte's association with James Naismith, the creator of basketball and the values he held dear such as a healthy body and mind. The Naismith Men's Shed is associated with and supported by Men's Shed Canada and Men's Shed Ontario.

Today at our Men’s Shed we met Bob McCormick (left) and Neil McBride (right) from the Naismith Men's Shed Mississippi Mills. It was interesting and fun exchanging practical ideas, sharing local project tips, and helping to expand our social networks. Because each independent Shed has a distinct local culture, these interactions foster regional camaraderie and mutual encouragement as well. “No two Sheds are quite alike."
