Good Afternoon, Almonte,

LAST CALL

At our board meeting yesterday morning, we reached an unfortunate decision. Our intention in restarting Valley Players was to generate interest and create the impetus for the community of Almonte to take over what we had begun. As of this morning, we are down two board members and are only just making a quorum. Valley Players cannot continue to exist without volunteers. Unless people from Almonte step forward to take over those board positions and we get a healthy volunteer base we will be unable to stage any future productions and will have to dissolve Valley Players Almonte at the end of our fiscal year (May 26th, 2024). So, this is a last call to members of the Almonte community if you are interested in the continuation of VPA to drop us an email at [email protected] and let us know if you are willing to take an active role in moving forward.

IT HAS TO BE YOU!!!!!

It Had To Be You closed yesterday and the set is struck. I hope as many of you as possible were able to catch the show. We received a lot of positive feedback from our audience.

It's now time to look forward to future productions. We are looking for anyone who would like to stage a play in 2024 to come forward with a proposal. We are tentatively looking at June 2024 but are open to alternative proposals. The Valley Players Almonte is a community theatre endeavor by the Almonte community for the Almonte community. Please send any proposed plays to [email protected]

Love is in the air for the holiday season with It Had To Be You at the Almonte Old Town Hall.

Date: December 7-10 (including a matinee)
What people say:

"A cartoon comedy of great dexterity and loving warmth." — The New York Post
"Something of a comic miracle.... A funny, funny, and finally touching play." — WCBS-TV (New York)

"It Had To Be You is billed as a cartoon romance and that's exactly what it is – a giddy and unlikely romance between an insufferable winner and an unsinkable loser. It's not sophisticated theatre, but it's definitely fun.." — Calgary Herald

It Had To Be You is an absurd, fast-paced comedy (which starred the real-life authors on Broadway) about Theda Blau, a zany, eccentric, ex-Hollywood B movie actress, health food nut, psychoanalysis patient, and 'wannabe' playwright seeking love and/or a writing partner in New York City. She meets Vito Pignoli, a hugely successful TV commercial producer. By holding him hostage in her apartment on a snowy Christmas Eve, she somehow manages to convince him to be her partner both on the page and off.
