Happy Thanksgiving, puppet pals! 🍂🧡

Our hearts are stuffed fuller than a Thanksgiving turkey, and it’s all thanks to YOU!

To our volunteers, who give their time and tackle the behind-the-scenes bustle. Our puppeteers, who turn felt, strings and imagination into pure wonder. Our sponsors, donors and local businesses, who help make the magic possible. And our audiences, who bring the giggles, gasps and great big cheers!

Thank you for making Puppets Up! part of this wonderful community. We’re grateful for every helping hand, every shared laugh and every new puppet pal.

Wishing you a weekend full of warmth, good company and an extra helping of silliness. 🦃✨

🎭 CALLING ALL PUPPETEERS, PERFORMERS & CHRISTMAS SPIRITS! 🎄👻

Puppet pals, here’s a fun opportunity from our friends at Lost Baggage Musical Theatre !

They’re casting a brand-new, locally made adaptation of A Christmas Carol: A Play with Carols, adapted and directed by Rebecca Russell, and this particular trip to Victorian London involves actors, singers, a ca****la carols, shadow puppetry and, most importantly to this crowd… PUPPETS!

The production is looking for approximately 10–16 performers of all ages and backgrounds, including puppeteers who will help bring Dickens’ famous Christmas spirits to life. The Ghosts of Christmas Past and Yet to Come will appear as puppets, while the Ghost of Christmas Present incorporates stilts, masks and puppet elements.

📣 Auditions: September 23, 25 & 26
🎭 Performances: December 10–13, 2026
📍 Ottawa
👧 Minimum audition age: 8
🎟️ Positions are volunteer

Puppeteers are asked to prepare a short script excerpt as well as a one-minute wordless puppetry piece using a puppet or object of their choice. No mouth puppets for this one, pals!

It sounds spooky. It sounds festive. It involves puppets wandering around Victorian London. In other words, we thought the Puppets Up! community might want to know about it. 🎄👻🎭

🎭 Nick had a puppet-perfect time at the Mississippi Mills Community Open House!

He tried his hand at square dancing, did a little puppeteering and explored his inner artist—all while the Puppets Up! folks chatted with the community and looked ahead to more festival magic in 2028.

An unexpected joy was spotting another one of Noreen Young’s puppets visiting the Mississippi Valley Field Naturalists' table. Those puppets really do get around! 👀

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to say hello—and to JB Arts for capturing and sharing these wonderful photos! 💛
