✨ Changing Lives, One Pair of Glasses at a Time 👓

This week, we were delighted to welcome Tom and Henry from Specsavers Toowong, who have been wonderful supporters of our dedicated member James May and his inspiring project in Timor-Leste.

Since 2020, James has been working alongside a hospital in Timor-Leste to identify children with severe vision impairment and provide them with life-changing glasses. For many of these children, receiving the right glasses means being able to attend school, learn, read, and see the world around them.

This project is about so much more than vision. It is about opportunity, confidence, independence, and hope for a brighter future.

A huge thank you to Tom and Henry for their generosity, commitment, and ongoing support. Your partnership is helping transform the lives of children who would otherwise face significant barriers to education and everyday life.

Our Rotary Club is proud to support this project, and we would love to see other clubs become involved as well. If you would like to learn more about how you can help make a difference, please get in touch.

Some of our Rotarians went for a stroll around the beautiful Paddington area following our Rotary Paddington Heritage Booklet before heading to the community breakfast meet-up at Sassafras.

Paddington really is a century old time capsule of Brisbane .
The courageous early risers saw lots of heritage buildings and parks including Ithaca War Memorial and park(1922) , Ithaca Fire Station (1919),Salvation Army Hall( 1897)and Forrester’s Hall (1888)

Discover Paddington Ward with the Rotary Club of Paddington Heritage Trail walk. If you wish to get a booklet, contact us 🙂

Mahir Komand’s session with RAWCS leadership. His personal
journey—from hardship to leadership—was not just inspiring; it reframed what “community” really means. It reminded us that reaching across boundaries isn’t just about geography but about empathy, opportunity, and action. Rotary Tri-District Conference 2026

Helping hands making a global impact! 🩺📦 Baz Peacock proudly pitched in at the Rotary Australia Repurposing Equipment (RARE) Facility to pack a container of vital medical supplies and equipment destined for PNG.

Here are Baz’s words of his first experience with RARE:

A RARE EXPERIENCE
Today I was my first and definitely not my last time volunteering with RARE. I was ready to literally do anything and to my surprise we were packing vital medical supplies and equipment in to a 20ft container heading to Rabaul, PNG. All of the items were donated, some costing around $15k, such as a portable ultrasound machine. Our experienced “tetris” container packer, Peter, a RARE regular, was determined to squeeze as much of the medical supplies and equipment safely in to the container and we managed to fill it to the brim. I love that so many Rotarians are happy to give up their Saturday mornings to help give back to our nearest and dearest neighbour, PNG.

Cheers, Baz.
