📚 Dresses Are for Messes by Elizabeth Pulsford is a fun and playful story that follows Tess, who would much prefer to play in a tulle dress than a t-shirt. It reminds children (and parents) that it’s okay to get messy while learning, exploring and having fun!

The story celebrates creativity as Tess enjoys shell collecting, bug inspecting and getting stuck into every activity, all while rocking her dress and her confident “Yes, I can!” attitude. ✨

The book ends with Tess in a shirt and shorts because it’s laundry day, showing that clothes can always be cleaned, but the memories made while playing and exploring are priceless!

'Twas the night before Book Week, so Team PJs took a moment to walk down Book Week memory lane... 📚

Children's Book Week 2026 runs from Saturday, August 22 to Friday, August 28, 2026 and is run by . It is either a date in the calendar year you look forward to, or dread (daycare parents, we see you 👀).

Traditionally, kindergartens and schools allow students to dress up as book characters, but we couldn't let them have all the fun! For the past six years, The Pyjama Foundation staff have been getting creative for the day.

We are celebrating on Thursday so keep your eyes peeled for our inaugural Book Week Best Dressed Comp on Stories! 🗳

Meet Heather, our 2026 Mackay Pyjama Angel of the Year! 💙

For the last five years, Heather has built a relationship with her Pyjama Child based on consistency, creativity and trust.

From finding new ways to encourage a reluctant reader, to cooking together, learning life skills and building furniture, Heather has continually adapted as he has grown from a little boy into a teenager.

Heather, thank you for showing up, sticking with it and celebrating every little victory along the way.

Congratulations on being named our 2026 Mackay Pyjama Angel of the Year! ✨

What a night! I was thrilled to attend the MYER Precious Metal Gala on Friday and share the work we do at The Pyjama Foundation to the room of 1,000+ guests. We have been the charity partner of this event for the past two years and it makes and incredible difference to our organisation.

It feels so special to be in a space with so many people who want to celebrate and give back to community groups across Australia. The funds raised at this event will change lives.

Thank you to Myer Community Fund for your ongoing support. Thank you to the events team at Myer, the event sponsors, and the group of volunteers who made this event possible. It was a truly wonderful night.

This , we’re challenging a common misconception: that children in out-of-home care (OOHC) are simply falling behind because they aren’t trying hard enough.

The reality is far more complex.

Many children in care have experienced trauma, instability and disrupted education. These are all barriers that can make learning harder, but do not define what they are capable of achieving.

Kids in care need our support. We have a waitlist of children wanting the essential support of a Pyjama Angel mentor, could this be you? Volunteer via the link in our bio 🩵

Congratulations to Lou McCormack, our 2026 Pyjama Angel of the Year for Far North Queensland! 💙

We had the privilege of recognising a very special Pyjama Angel whose commitment to her Pyjama Child has extended far beyond the weekly hour they spend together.

For the past four years, Lou has brought consistency, encouragement and plenty of laughter alongside learning, creating countless opportunities for this fabulous young person to discover the world and herself.

Together, Lou and her Pyjama Child have adapted through changing circumstances, finding new ways to stay connected make wonderful memories together

Her commitment, flexibility, creativity and genuine joy in simply spending time together have made this a truly special connection.
