Mothers Milk Bank Charity - Australia

Mothers Milk Bank Charity - Australia The Mothers Milk Bank Charity collects, screens, pasteurises and distributes donated human milk in AU

Breastmilk is a perfectly balanced source of nutrition and is the best food for all infants. Although its contents vary and are constantly changing, breastmilk contains active antibodies which protect newborns from a variety of infections and diseases. When a mother's own milk is not available, donated mothers' milk is the next best option for her baby, ensuring optimum physical and neurological

development and protection from infection. It assists in the treatment of allergies and feeding intolerance, immunologic deficiencies and inborn errors of metabolism. If an infant is sick or premature, it is an especially important contributor to their recovery.

By nourishing others with your breast milk, you are giving premature and sick babies the very best start in life — the kind of nourishment that simply cannot be replicated by anything else. 💛

Through Mothers Milk Bank, a private charity providing life-saving PDHM (Pasteurised Donated Human Milk), your generosity helps ensure that vulnerable babies receive the protection, comfort and nutrition they urgently need when their own mum’s milk is not available.

If you are a mum with surplus milk, your donation can make an extraordinary difference. Every drop truly matters.

Mother’s Milk Bank, we can accept high lipase breast milk for donation.

As long as you’ve completed your lifestyle screening and blood test — your milk is still absolutely safe and valuable for babies in need.

What is high lipase milk?Lipase is a natural enzyme in breast milk that helps babies digest fats. In some mums, the enzyme is more active — especially after milk is expressed and stored — which can cause a soapy or metallic smell or taste. Importantly, this doesn’t mean the milk is bad or unsafe.

Why we can accept it:• In frozen milk, lipase slows down but remains active — which is why the taste can change over time.•

During donor milk processing, pasteurisation deactivates the lipase enzyme.•

So if you’ve been told your milk is “high lipase”… please don’t throw it away.It can still nourish a tiny life. 🫶

Apply to donate today and help turn extra milk into lifesaving care.

Mother’s Milk Bank is launching an outreach & awareness campaign to help more families understand breast milk donation — what it means for them, and how it can change another baby’s life.

Whether a mum has a small amount or litres to share, every drop truly matters 💛

If you’d like to support awareness in your clinic, hospital, mothers’ group or private lactation service, we warmly welcome you to enquire via [email protected] or send us a DM with your details and we’ll send brochures, posters and information packs.

Breast milk is truly one of nature’s most incredible gifts. It’s packed with antibodies, enzymes, living cells, healthy fats and nutrients that work together to protect, nourish and help babies grow in ways that simply can’t be replicated. Even the tiniest amount can make a powerful difference — supporting immunity, gut health and overall development when it’s needed most.

That’s why at Mother’s Milk Bank, we are constantly in awe of the kindness and generosity of our donors. Every donation is a real gift of love, hope and life to babies and families who need it most 🤍

A milk bank is where generous, incredible mums donate their excess frozen breast milk to help babies who need it most.

Approved donors complete a lifestyle screening and blood tests before donating. The milk is then carefully processed in our facility using Holder pasteurisation, tested for safety, and distributed to hospitals and vulnerable babies — including premature babies, medically fragile babies, and those whose mothers can’t provide their own milk.

Right now, we’re in critical low supply of donor milk.
If you’re able to help, even a small amount can make a life-changing difference.

This is a massive shout out to all the incredible mums who donate their breast milk 🤍

Because of your generosity, babies like Amara are able to receive the extra support they need during those early, vulnerable days. Breast milk donation truly changes lives, and this story is such a powerful reminder of the impact one mum can have on another family.

If you have excess milk and don’t need it for your own baby, we encourage you to look into becoming a breast milk donor. Your milk could make all the difference for a little one who needs it most.

Thank you so much to Hash, Brad and baby Amara for sharing your story with us 🤍
