Computers for Learning (C4L) is your go-to destination for affordable, refurbished technology

⭐About Us:
At C4L, we're all about bridging the digital divide. Whether you're a student, a veteran, or a senior, we believe that everyone should have access to affordable, reliable computers. Our service is made possible through a passionate and dedicated group of volunteers

πŸ’» What We Do:
We take dona

ted, pre-loved computers, refurbish them, and resell them at prices that won't break the bank. Our key aim is to supply them to those who are unable to afford new devices from mainstream retailers.

πŸ“ Where to Find Us:
You can find us in "The Shipping Container" at the Victor Street entrance of Earnshaw College, Banyo, Brisbane. We're proud to be a part of the Banyo community, serving the tech needs of our neighbors.

We love that increasingly schools are choosing to give C4L their redundant computers so they can be refurbished and rehomed, rather than simply get recycled.

The latest school to join the fold is Geebung State School who gave us a quantity of desktop computers✨.
Thank you to Kerry who facilitated this. We really appreciate that C4L was at the top of the list when you were wondering what to do with these devices. βœ…

The computers will eventually make their way to low-income families and individuals where they will continue to allow people to stay connected and abreast of the times.🀩

Ever wondered what the lifecycle of a C4L computer is? ♻️
Nathan, one of our volunteers has decided to show you. πŸ“½οΈ
Our Nathan is a man of many talents. He also stars in the reel!

From collection of the donation to collection of the refurbished device by a grateful new owner, this reel covers what the C4L volunteers do to keep unwanted tech viable. 🀝

The quarantining and wiping of devices is not shown because, well, there's not much to see and only a couple of people have access to this stage.
It's about security you see. 🀫 πŸ”

πŸ“£Shout out to the team at the Brighton Wellness Hub.

The BWH is part of the Metro North Hospital and Health Services and it provides a space for their local community to access services, activities and information that support healthy ageing.
We are grateful that they have agreed to host one of our Donation Bins.
So, if you live near Brighton or Sandgate and have a laptop you now longer need, why don't you drop it off there?
And then you can get yourself some fish and chips and go sit on the foreshore and take in the amazing view πŸ–οΈ

Thank you Brighton Wellness Hub for supporting C4L

πŸ†2026 Lilley Volunteer Awards 2026!

We are proud to have been recognised in the Lilley Volunteer Group or Community Project Award category of the annual Lilley Volunteer Awards hosted by Anika Wells MP.🎊
Bruce McNaught and Janet Robinson were there representing C4L and we were fortunate enough to also get a lucky door prize!

Congratulations too to all the other individuals and groups who were recognised. It was inspiring to see the number of young volunteers present with the youngest being only 11!

Thank you to Anika Wells MP for recognising C4L and for a lovely breakfast event.
And lastly a huge THANK YOU to the C4L Team. This award is for you all!

Take a moment to consider this amazing group of volunteers who give of their time in the most extreme circumstances to help people in their community. Where would we be without the dedication of our SES volunteers? πŸ™πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

It's National Volunteer Week!
As if we need an excuse to celebrate our volunteers......😁
But it sure gives us a stage to sing their praises!

So here are some fun facts about C4L and its volunteers:
# of volunteers - 35
# of paid employees - 0
Oldest volunteer - 79
Youngest volunteer - 16
Longest serving volunteer - Bruce McNaught. As a long term Rotarian, Bruce was around when C4L started as an initiative of the Rotary Club of Nundah!

We think we are so blessed to have such an enthusiastic and capable group of people who give of their time to turn old computers into something that helps empower others.

To each and every volunteer, our heartfelt THANK YOU!

A couple of weeks ago we mentioned that people who help C4L don't always give us computers, and occasionally we even get pressies sent through the mail!
The latest one came from FKG Group in the form of a whole bunch of USB drives!

FKG Group deliver construction, civil and development projects throughout Queensland, NSW and the NT. But did you know that they also build partnerships in the community through sponsorships, donations and community investment funding?

So thank you to Kirsten from FKG Group for arranging this donation of USB drives.
It will help us immensely in the work that we do because in order to get devices ready for distribution our techs use USB drives to do system imaging and backup.

Do you have laptops, tablets or desktop computers that you no longer use?
Do you want to get rid of them but don't want to dump them because they might still be useful?

If you answered YES to all of the above, then C4L has a solution.βœ…

πŸ“Drop them off at Chris Whiting MP's office in Rothwell.
Chris has kindly agreed to be a Donation Location for C4L. Thank you Mr Whiting!
