To all the individuals, businesses and organisations who have supported C4L and the community with donations of computers, we would like to extend our sincerest gratitude.🙏

But the struggle never ends.
We've had an unusually high demand for our devices midyear and now we are in danger of not having enough stock to meet the 2027 Back-to-School orders.

What does this mean?
Quite simply, it means that many students will start their new school year without the one tool that they all need to stay engaged in their education - a student laptop.

So they need YOUR help.

If you have a laptop you no longer use, PLEASE donate it to C4L.
If your organisation's IT assets have reached their end of life and are being changed out, PLEASE donate to C4L.

We will:
💚securely wipe every device,
💚provide a wiping report if you are a business,
💚refurbish the devices, AND
💚give a student a chance to stay engaged in education,
and in doing so, prevent more e-waste from entering landfill. 🌱

Big news from the C4L team - and we're genuinely excited about this one!💚

We are proud to share that Computers 4 learning is once again partnering with The University of Queensland Business School, this time as a project sponsor for the MBA program.

This isn't our first time working with UQ. We first partnered with them in 2025 supporting undergraduate students in the Work Integrated Learning program. It was a great experience for us and hopefully the students as well. So when the Business School came back to us again this year and asked us to participate in the MBA Impact Academy 1 we didn't hesitate.

We put forward a real challenge.
A problem that matters.
And a team of five MBA students - Ingrid, Abe, Isabel, Haider and Michael said 'Yes, we'll accept the challenge'.

All are professionals juggling study, work and family......all bringing lived experience to the table.
They'll be spending the next few weeks laying the groundwork, interviewing our donors, volunteers and community members to understand what we do and how we do it.

Thank you our volunteer James for being the key C4L point of contact for the team and whose commitment to this project makes it possible.

Can't wait to see where this goes! Watch this space 🙌

Our e-store is a little bit different.
Why?
Well we don't sell our refurbished computers by brand.
Instead we group our devices by their specifications.

We know that Queensland Department of Education schools have a set of specifications for student devices, so every donated laptop that meets those specifications is set aside as a student laptop.

Everything else is assessed and assigned to one of the other categories in our store depending on its capabilities.

Our techs are always looking for innovative ways to keep old computers viable and if this means installing an operating system that is something other than Windows, then so be it.
Yes there are those OTHER operating systems that work very well on older devices and are very simple to navigate.

This should prove to be an interesting forum not only for youth but for small business. Get in quickly and save your space now.

Since 2014, YDF has supported over 8,000 young Queenslanders — helping almost 3,000 into employment and 500 back into education or further study.

Their support covers everything from accredited training, job readiness, and workplace traineeships, through to resume and interview prep, mentoring, and NDIS support — all designed to meet young people where they are and help them take their next step.

They also work closely with local employers, training organisations, and community services to create genuine pathways and opportunities for young people within the local community.

Windows 11 said no.
We said… hold on a second! 🎮💚

McVeigh Consultants recently donated a batch of seriously capable computers — machines that had been doing heavy-duty CAD work — because Windows 11 no longer supported them.

High-spec donated hardware like this opens up real possibilities to gaming builds that make technology genuinely exciting for young people. These PCs are being transformed into affordable retro-gaming computers and will be made available at low cost to community members who've always wanted a gaming PC but couldn't afford the price tag.

Because good hardware deserves a second life.
And everyone deserves to enjoy their favourite game. 🙌

We believe in meeting people where they are — and this week, that meant heading to Australian Catholic University (ACU) Welcome Back Open Day. 💚

We had the chance to connect with students at the start of their semester, talk about what we do at Computers 4 Learning, and open the door to what we hope will be another great year of working alongside university students who want to put their skills to use for something that matters 💻

Computers 4 Learning is partnering with ACU this semester to host students undertaking their Community Engagement unit — and we already have two students who have applied to join us. For us, this partnership is about more than having extra hands at the workshop. It's about giving students a real, honest look at what a community organisation actually does.

We're grateful to ACU for the opportunity to be part of their students' learning. We think there's enormous value in students experiencing community organisations from the inside… and we're proud to be the kind of place where that experience is worth having 🙏

Brisbane just got a new place to do something good with that old laptop. 📍💚

We're thrilled to welcome the electorate office of Melissa McMahon, State Member for Macalister, as an official Computers 4 Learning donation bin location. Thank you to Melissa and her team for opening their doors to the community and making responsible tech disposal that little bit more accessible for everyone.

Every year I get to meet Brisbane residents who quietly make our city a better place.

The Lord Mayor's Australia Day Awards are how we say thank you to them.

These awards recognise the local individuals, organisations and events making a real difference across our community, from Citizen of the Year to the Green Heart Award for environmental leadership.

Last year's recipients included volunteers with decades of service to their local clubs, hospitals and community groups. Every one of them reminded me how much of Brisbane's strength comes from people giving back.
