C4L needs your help!

We have been offered a significant quantity of All-in-One computers but unfortunately we currently don't have enough space to store them at the moment.

If you know of an unused secure space that is close to Banyo or anywhere on Brisbane's northside we would love to hear from you.

We would prefer free or very low cost premises as cost of storage will impact the price of the devices and make them beyond the budget of the people we help.

Did you know? Australia generates over 600,000 tonnes of e-waste every year — making us one of the highest per-capita producers in the world. 🌏

When e-waste ends up in landfill, the consequences are real: lead, mercury, and cadmium leaching into soil and groundwater, toxic materials that don’t break down and don’t go away.

Last year, Computers 4 Learning diverted 3.3 tonnes of e-waste from landfill. In the context of 600,000 tonnes, 3.3 is a tiny fraction. It barely puts a dent in the national figure. We know that.

But we also know a lot of it isn’t actually a waste. It’s a working laptop someone didn’t know what to do with. A desktop that got replaced in an office upgrade. A device with years of useful life still in it.

Our volunteers assess, repair, and refurbish donated devices — and get them into the hands of Brisbane students, families, and job seekers who need them. What can’t be refurbished gets stripped for reusable components, so nothing wasted.

Did you know that October is Seniors Month?
And all over Queensland events are being held to celebrate the wonderful contribution our Seniors have made, and continue to make, in our community.

The Council on the Aging (COTA) have a great range of free events during October including an information session for Get Online Week - https://qldseniorsmonth.org.au/event/get-online-week-for-seniors/

Did you also know that Computers 4 Learning has computers at rock bottom prices which are excellent for Seniors who need a computer to connect to essential services and loved ones.

Drop them at Leanne's electorate office during business hours and we'll take care of everything from there.

We wipe, refurbish and rehome the device to a Queensland family who needs it most.

Every now and then a donor reaches out with exactly the right reasons — and PRET Australia is one of those.🫱

PRET Australia recently donated a collection of computers that had been in active use in their training rooms — replaced not because they'd stopped working, but because smaller, lighter
devices better suited the flexibility their classrooms needed.

When asked why they chose to donate to C4L, Kim from PRET's Training and Development team told us they appreciated C4L's clear information about how donations are handled and the
fact that components from non-working computers are reused or recycled.
Additionally, the fact that we provide a data wiping report is very important as they need to ensure their company
data is handled securely.🔒

But what really warmed our hearts was that PRET Australia also recognised the journey these devices are now on.
From their classroom to yours.
From their students to someone else's.🫶
That continuity of purpose is everything.

New donation spot — Zillmere, you're officially on the map. 📍💚

Zillmere Community Centre is a hub of support and connection for families and individuals in Brisbane's north. Now, it's also a place where the community can drop off their old laptops, desktops, and tablets!

Once donated, we'll take the devices for a secure data wipe, full refurbish, and into the hands of someone in Brisbane who needs it. 💻

You all know that "Bridging the Digital Divide" is the C4L slogan right?

Well the divide this week was almost the widest one we have ever encountered.
We got a request....
From Italy!🇮🇹

We were gobsmacked!!
We know that word about C4L is spreading with more and more requests coming from NSW and regional Queensland. But to make an impression all the way over to Italy - that is truly something.

Regretfully supplying Italy is beyond us.
Helping Queenslanders has always been and will continue to be our main focus.🤝

Please help us to Bridge the Digital Divide at home.
