⭐️ Introducing our third new Life Member - John Martin ⭐️

For decades, John Stewart Martin has been a driving force in Pony Club Queensland and Metropolitan Zone 1.
From joining Runcorn Pony Club in the 1990s with his daughter’s off‑the‑track thoroughbred, John went on to serve as instructor, chief instructor, president, life member, and a tireless advocate for traditional pony club values.

He dedicated more than 25 years to Zone 1, including five years as President, and contributed extensively to PCQ committees, show jumping officiating, accreditation clinics, constitutional work, and PCQ’s early website and systems.

John is known for his fairness, kindness, and unwavering commitment to helping clubs and supporting young riders. His influence has shaped clubs, zones, and generations of pony club members.

A truly deserving candidate for PCQ Life Membership.

🌟 Introducing another one of our newest Life Members - Geoff Thompson🌟

Geoff’s Pony Club journey began at Oxenford Pony Club, where he served as President and Chief Instructor before stepping into Zone leadership. As Zone 2 President for 15 years and later Vice President until 2025, Geoff played a key role in delivering countless PCQ state events across D, CT, HT, JE and SJ disciplines.

His passion for course design and judging has seen him become a respected TD in Horse Trials and Showjumping, mentoring the next generation of designers and judges. Geoff has also chaired the PCQ SJ/HT/JE sub‑committee and served multiple terms as PCAQ Vice President, representing Queensland nationally to ensure the state’s voice is heard.

Across decades of service, Geoff has shown unwavering dedication to developing equestrian sport and supporting young riders. His commitment, leadership and tireless volunteer work make him a truly deserving recipient of this award. 🐴💛

🌟 Introducing one of our newest Life Members - Sarah Standen 🌟
For more than 43 years, Sarah has been a pillar of Zone 18 and Pony Club Queensland — coaching, leading, innovating and supporting clubs across the Far North. From developing new coaches, boosting club membership, creating major fundraisers, and guiding riders at every level, her impact has shaped generations.

With decades of service on the Zone 18 Chief Instructors Panel, over 20 years as Far North Regional Director of Coaching, and leadership roles at State level — including PCQ President since 2020 and a member of the State Chief Instructors Panel for more than 35 years — Sarah’s dedication is unmatched.

Her countless unseen hours, fairness, professionalism and passion make her an outstanding role model and a truly deserving Life Member. 💛🐴

Would you recognise fire ants on your property or in hay? Fire ants can cause painful bites on humans, and which may require medical and/or veterinary care. Purchasing hay from non-infected properties that has been correctly handled and stored can reduce your risks. If you see a questionable ant or nest on your property, keep livestock, pets and children away and report it for treatment.

Biosecurity Queensland and the National Fire Ant Eradication Program have a range of resources property owners and producers on their websites, including some handy training tools.
