Finding skin cancer early can save lives.

Get to know your skin by doing regular self‑checks so you can spot what’s normal for you and what’s changed. Skin cancers are often seen, not felt.

Check your whole body in good light, using a mirror (or ask someone you trust to help), and don’t forget areas like your scalp, back, soles of your feet and between fingers and toes.

Look out for new spots, or changes to existing moles including size, shape, colour, itching or bleeding. If you notice anything new or unusual, see your doctor as soon as possible.

We’re proud to launch ‘Authentic Dreaming’, a powerful artwork created by Aboriginal artist Ben Barker for Cancer Council Queensland. 🎨

Grounded in courage, connection and truth, the piece reflects the strength it takes to show up as your authentic self, even during life’s most challenging moments. To quote the artist, “The piece reminds us that honesty is not weakness. It is a form of light. A steady sun carried inside the human spirit.”

Thank you Ben for sharing your vision, and for helping us honour and recognise the journeys of First Nations people impacted by cancer.

Bowel cancer can develop with little to no symptoms – which is why awareness matters.

Watch for changes in bowel habits, blood in your stool, ongoing discomfort, or unexplained fatigue. Early detection can make a significant difference.

Screening is simple and can be done at home.

This Bowel Cancer Awareness month, take the time to learn more about symptoms and treatment: cancer.org.au/types-of-cancer/bowel-cancer.
