Far North Queensland! You turned out in pyjamas and ugg boots, lycra and sneakers, ponchos and gumboots.
And for 18 hours you walked, wheeled and even danced laps around Barlow Park in a show of hope, love and remembrance across a truly spectacular FNQ Relay For Life.
The epic overnight event saw the FNQ community come together to recognise locals going through a cancer experience and their carers, celebrate those who overcame cancer, honour and remember loved ones lost, and raise money to help save more lives.
From the bottom of our heart, thank you.
๐ Thank you to the 686 people who braved a wet and cold Saturday night to join a team and take part โ almost double the number of people who participated last year.
๐ Thank you to the FNQ Relay For Life Committee, Chair Christina George, and its team of extraordinary volunteers, fuelled by passion and purpose, who worked tirelessly to ensure the incredible success of this event.
๐ Thank you to Peter George Photography for donating his time and talents to capturing the colour and spirit of the event.
๐ Thank you to all our event sponsors for your support, including Cairns Regional Council, Brothers Cairns, Progig, Cazalys Cairns, Rotary Club of Cairns West, Simon George & Sons, PFD Food Services and Heightened Services Group.
๐ Last, but certainly not least, thank you to our Far North Queensland donor community for your generosity and ongoing support of Relay for Life. You helped raise more than $140,000 โ smashing the eventโs fundraising target.
The money raised will help support cancer research, prevention programs and vital services for people affected by cancer, including local accommodation and patient transport in the FNQ community.
