• “You don’t deserve this.”
• “How can I support you?”

DAY 14 — Leaving Isn’t Simple
Many people ask, “Why don’t they just leave?”
But leaving is often the most dangerous moment — and the most complex.
People stay because of:
• Safety concerns
• Financial dependence
• Shame
• Fear of escalation
• Children
• Isolation
• Hope things will change
Understanding this helps us offer compassion instead of judgement.

Children don’t need to see violence to be impacted by it.
Raised voices, tension, fear, or disrespect between adults all shape how children learn about safety and relationships.
When we promote respectful behaviour at home, we protect the next generation and model what healthy relationships look like.

Abuse isn’t only physical.
Words can erode confidence, identity, and safety long before violence ever appears.
Emotional abuse can sound like:
• “You’re too sensitive.”
• “You’re imagining things.”
• “You’d be nothing without me.”
Awareness helps us recognise early harm and support those who may feel invisible.
