🐾 South West locals — could you help a puppy take their first steps towards changing someone's life?

We urgently need volunteer Puppy Raisers from Busselton to Margaret River and surrounding communities, with puppies and older dogs needing homes over the next two months.

By providing a safe, loving home, you'll help a future Guide or Assistance Dog develop the confidence, good manners and everyday experiences they need for their future role. 💛

You don't need to be a dog-training expert. Our team in Busselton, supported by our Perth team, will guide you throughout the puppy raising journey.

We're looking for homes for:
🐶 Young puppies from around eight weeks old.
🐕 Older puppies and dogs in training from around six months old.

Some older puppies may be suitable to accompany you to a dog-friendly workplace, so working doesn't necessarily rule you out!

Whether you're an individual, couple or family, we'd love to chat about what's involved.

🐾 Come behind the scenes as Guide Dogs WA celebrates 75 years! 💙

Ever wondered what goes into training a Guide Dog? Or how technology is helping people who are blind or have low vision live with greater independence?

As part of our 75th anniversary celebrations, we're throwing open the doors of Perron Place and inviting the community to join us for a very special Community Open Day!

It's your chance to discover our remarkable history, meet the people behind our life-changing work and see how we're helping Western Australians live with greater independence and confidence.

🐶 Discover the journey of a Guide Dog – learn about our breeding and training programs, how dogs are matched with their handlers and the incredible partnerships they form.

💙 Step back in time – hear from Wendy Morrow, our original kennel maid, and the manager of our breeding program, Dion Handler, who will share insights into WA's government-sponsored Guide Dog breeding program.

🦮 Go behind the scenes – enjoy interactive tours and discover where our dogs are trained.

📱 Explore accessible technology** – see firsthand how innovative technology and specialist services are opening up new possibilities for people who are blind or have low vision.

🐾 The training starts early for our Guide and Assistance Dogs 🐾

They may only be six weeks old, but already they're learning the foundational skills required for their future career paths.

Our gorgeous Y litter - think Yale, Yoda, Yardley, York and more - six black and three yellow bundles - are currently charming everyone they meet with their playful natures, big paws and endless cuddles 💕

One day they'll join the Guide Dogs WA service dogs' community, transforming the lives of more Western Australians with low or no vision, disability or illness and following a proud legacy spanning 75 years in November.

As we celebrate 75 years of changing lives, we’re inviting you to discover how you can make a difference at our Volunteer Open Day! 💙

For 75 years, our incredible volunteers have played a vital role in helping Western Australians who are blind or have low vision live with greater independence and confidence. Now, we'd love you to be part of our story.

Join us for a special behind-the-scenes experience where you can:

🐶 Meet our volunteers and hear what it’s really like to raise a Guide Dog puppy or provide a temporary home for one of our dogs.

🐾 Go behind the scenes with tours of Perron Place and our Sunbury Road dog facility, meet our trainers and discover how our dogs are cared for.

💙 Explore volunteering opportunities across Guide Dogs WA and EverAbility Group, from puppy raising to accessibility services and community activities.

Whether you have a few hours to spare or have always dreamed of raising a Guide Dog puppy, there’s a place for you!
