When volunteering inspires even more ways to help 🐾💚

Year 12 student Sara M already volunteers and supports our Pets In The Park Parramatta team — and recently took her support one step further by inspiring her Girraween High School community to get involved too.

Together with the school’s Student Representative Council, Sara helped organise a donation drive and school disco, raising more than $1,900 and collecting pet food, bedding and other essentials for our clients and their pets.

Our Clinic Coordinator Robyn also visited the school to speak with students about PITP and the work we do in the local community.

A huge thank you to Sara, the SRC and everyone at Girraween High School who got behind the initiative. What a wonderful example of how one volunteer can inspire a whole community to make a difference.

A BUSY AUGUST CLINIC 🐾

Our volunteers were working off their feet at our August clinic as we welcomed our clients and their much-loved pets, including those experiencing homelessness.

A special thank you to volunteer vets Chloe and Natalie, who stepped in when we were short of vets. We’re also very grateful to Animal Rescue Cooperative (ARC) for their much-needed donations of wet and dry pet food, shampoo, towels, toys and harnesses.

Thank you also to Jenny and Tahlia for their regular donations of pet food, and to Richard for donating so many beautiful dog beds!

Finally, thank you to all our amazing volunteers whose compassion, skill and hard work make these clinics possible. 💙

🐾 Help make NSW public transport more accessible for people and their dogs

At Pets in the Park Parramatta, we know that getting a dog to veterinary appointments can be difficult for people who do not have access to a car.

A NSW Parliamentary e-petition is calling on the NSW Government to trial a clearly identified dog-friendly carriage on every NSW train and Metro service for two years.

Dogs would need to remain on a lead or in an approved carrier, with clear standards for behaviour, cleanliness and owner responsibility. All other carriages would remain dog-free.

This could provide an important transport option for people experiencing homelessness or financial hardship, as well as older Australians, people with disabilities and others who do not drive.

The petition needs 20,000 signatures from NSW residents by 4 November 2026 to be debated in NSW Parliament.

This week marks Homelessness Week 2026, a time to raise awareness of homelessness in Australia and the collective action needed to create lasting change.

At Pets In The Park, we see every day how important the bond between people and their companion animals can be.

Through our volunteer veterinary clinics, we're proud to provide free veterinary care that helps keep pets healthy and supports the people who love them.

It's practical support, delivered with compassion, and it's only possible because of our incredible volunteers, referral partners, supporters and donors.

Thank you for helping us make a difference...because caring for pets is also caring for people.

☀️ A BEAUTIFUL DAY FOR OUR JULY CLINIC 🐾

It was wonderful to see our clients and their much-loved pets at Sunday’s clinic and to welcome some new volunteers to the team.

A huge thank you to Animal Rescue Cooperative (ARC) for donating wet and dry food, blankets, toys, poo bags, leads and much more. Thank you to Sara and Janene for transporting everything to the clinic, with their car packed to the brim once again!

We’re also very grateful to Dr Hanson and North Rocks Vet Hospital for donating medication, wet and dry food, and other essential supplies, and to PetO Northmead for their generous donations.

Thank you also to volunteer Lynne for bringing dog food, p*e pads and other donated items to the clinic. We received many more generous donations from people who dropped by on the day. There were too many to keep track of, but every donation was greatly appreciated!

Thank you to all our wonderful volunteers and supporters for helping make the clinic possible. 🫶

That’s a lot of thank yous - but we have a lot of wonderful people to be grateful for! Your generosity helps us support our clients and their much-loved pets. 💚🐾

We're incredibly honoured to have been selected as the 2026 charity partner for the iconic Commentators Club Grand Final Luncheon.

What began in 1997 as a gathering of just 30 friends with a shared passion for Australian Rules football has grown into one of Melbourne's most anticipated AFL Grand Final week events. More importantly, it has become a remarkable force for good.

For almost three decades, the Commentators Club has chosen to direct the proceeds from its annual luncheon to grassroots charities making a real difference in the community, with over $400,000 distributed so far.

This year, we're humbled that Pets In The Park has been chosen as the beneficiary.

Funds raised will directly support our Melbourne clinics in St Kilda, Melbourne and Frankston, helping us provide free veterinary care to the pets of people experiencing homelessness.

A heartfelt thank you to Neville "Nifty" James, Geoff "Joffa" Donohue, the Commentators Club committee, and every guest attending and sponsor supporting this year's luncheon. Your generosity will have a lasting impact on the people and pets we support.

🐾 Our July clinic is stocked! 💚

Our volunteers, Janene and Sara, packed the car to the brim today after collecting another incredibly generous donation from Animal Rescue Cooperative (ARC).

Thanks to ARC, we'll have plenty of wet and dry food, harnesses, shampoo, conditioner, toys, balls and treats to share with the people and pets we support at our July clinic on the 26th.

A huge thank you to ARC and its supporters for helping us care for pets whose owners are doing it tough.

Now we're just hoping for good weather! ☀️🐶

🌧️ Rain wasn't enough to stop our June clinic! We were able to help many clients and their pets!

A huge thank you to Animal Rescue Cooperative for their generous donation of pet food and supplies, which help make a real difference and are always greatly appreciated by the people and pets we support.

A big thank you as well to our amazing volunteers, who kept everything running smoothly and helped pack up in the pouring rain. We also received generous donations of coats and blankets from members of our community. Thank you!

Even with the rain, it was another reminder of what our monthly clinics are all about – providing free veterinary care, practical support and essential supplies to help people care for the pets they love.

Thank you to everyone who makes these clinics possible. 💚

For many Australians experiencing homelessness, a pet is their constant companion, source of comfort, and reason to keep going. Yet when money is tight, veterinary care is often out of reach.

That's why Pets In The Park provides free veterinary care to the pets of people experiencing homelessness via monthly pop-up clinics around the country.
