In Memorium
AHMED ABDULLAHI MOHAMED (BRIGATO)
It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that HARDA – Horn of Africa Relief and Development Agency, together with the wider Somali community across Australia, announces the passing of our beloved brother, elder, leader, and uncle, Ahmed Abdullahi Mohamed (Brigato) who returned to his Creator on 16 April 2026.
Ahmed was a towering figure within both the Somali and broader Horn of Africa communities. He dedicated his life to serving others, most notably as the Executive Director of HARDA and, more recently, as the Vice President of the Somali Council of NSW. Respected, trusted, and admired by all who knew him, Ahmed was often the first person called upon in times of need, and he never hesitated to offer his support, guidance, and wisdom.
As one of the earliest Somali migrants to Australia, Ahmed played a pivotal role in helping countless individuals and families establish new lives in their adopted homeland. Through his tireless advocacy, mentorship, and community leadership, he assisted generations of newly arrived migrants to navigate settlement challenges and build stable, hopeful futures. His impact on the community is immeasurable, and his legacy will continue to be felt for years to come.
We mourn not only the loss of a remarkable man but also the loss of a legacy defined by service, compassion, humility, and leadership. His absence leaves a void that cannot be filled, yet his memory will live on in the countless lives he touched, the families he supported, and the communities he helped strengthen
