From hospital visits and community forums to collaborative engagements and Reconciliation Week events, our Community Engagement team has been busy building connections across the region.

Every conversation helps raise awareness of Carer Gateway, strengthen local referral pathways and ensure carers know where to turn for support when they need it.

A big thank you to the organisations, community members and service partners who met with our team this week and shared their time, knowledge and experiences with us. We know that strong partnerships help create stronger outcomes for carers.

World Elder Abuse Awareness Day is approaching on Monday 15th June.

This year's theme, Beyond Age: Changing the conversation about ageing, reminds us that everyone has the right to live with dignity, respect and safety.

For some older carers, the person they care for may at time, and often unintentionally, cause them harm.

This can be a difficult reality to talk about.

Carers may feel protective of the person they support, worry about what will happen if they speak up, or believe that the behaviour is simply part of their caring role.

Abuse can take many forms, including verbal threats, intimidation, financial abuse, controlling behaviour, physical harm or damage to property.

No one should have to choose between caring for someone and feeling safe themselves.

This World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, we want carers to know that support is available and that seeking help does not mean you have stopped caring.
