We celebrate the incredible legacy of the Sisters of Mercy in North Sydney.

Inspired by the vision of Catherine McAuley, the Sisters have spent generations empowering women, educating young people, and standing alongside those most in need.

Their courage, compassion and commitment to justice continue to inspire our community today. May we carry forward their spirit of mercy, leadership and service.

Happy International Womenโ€™s Day to the women who lead with strength, kindness and hope. โœจ

Today, on World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, we salute the tireless work of Anti-Slavery Australia, Be Slavery Free ACRATH, The Freedom Hub, Sisters of Charity Foundation The Salvation Army Australia and many, many more organisations across Australia who work to prevent and respond to modern slavery every day.

We applaud the brave survivors who are rebuilding their lives and we honour their courage to share their experiences to drive change.

We also acknowledge the vital work of many Sisters of Mercy responding to slavery across the globe, including Sr Angela Reed from Mercy International Association for her ongoing advocacy work to prevent and respond to human trafficking.

Freedom is essential for human dignity. It is a right that all of us are bound to protect.
