We are committed to supporting economic development in these communities by identifying social business opportunities, ensuring the sustainability of our education strategies. These b

Many girls in our communities are walking 18km a day just to get to school. The journey is not only exhausting, but also dangerous, with the very real risks of harassment and assault often deterring girls from attending school all together.

💡📱 What if access to legal information was as simple as sending a WhatsApp message?

We’re excited to be piloting Dada Wakili, an AI-powered legal companion that helps communities in Tanzania understand their rights and navigate common justice challenges.

So They Can’s network of community-based Champion Mothers and Fathers will use Dada Wakili as part of a six-month pilot, delivered in partnership with Smart Justice, a justice innovation organisation working to improve access to justice through technology.

It’s an exciting example of how technology can support locally led solutions and strengthen access to justice.

Together we're improving learning environments for students in Tanzania ✅📚

In late July, we celebrated a major milestone at Tsamasi Primary School: the handover of four newly renovated classrooms complete with desks. The local community contributed 4% of the total project cost, demonstrating their commitment to their children's education.

This upgrade will help boost academic performance, reduce absenteeism, and give students a safer, more comfortable place to learn.

The Babati District Education Officer for primary schools attended as guest of honour, celebrating this important step forward for the school.

🇹🇿 Tanzania: Six Months of Impact 🇹🇿

Our latest impact update for the Education Program in Tanzania is here, covering January to June 2026, and there's a lot to celebrate from our team and school communities this year.

👇 A few highlights from our projects:

✅ A new 60-bed girls' dormitory opened at Ayatsea Secondary, giving 120 girls safe accommodation to continue their education

✅ Our Embassy of Japan partnership project at Orng'adida Primary is complete: new classrooms, toilet blocks and water towers now support 1,008 children

✅ 4 new boreholes drilled and 20,000L of water storage donated, bringing clean water closer to more schools

✅ Over 1,000 reusable sanitary Dignity Packs distributed, plus a Menstrual Hygiene Day that reached 2,293 students and teachers

✅ Our 2026 Medical Camp treated 2,510 community members, including 221 girls vaccinated against cervical cancer and 970 eye screenings

✅ 112 new teachers graduated from Mamire Teachers College with a 100% pass rate, and 24 new interns joined our program schools

🇰🇪 Baringo, Kenya: Six Months of Impact 🇰🇪

Our latest impact update for the Baringo Education Program in Kenya is here, covering January to June 2026, and we're proud of what our team and communities have built together this year.

👏 A few highlights from January to June:

✅ 4 new classrooms and a teachers' toilet block built across our partner primary schools, plus a new borehole underway for clean water access

✅ 30.25 acres of school farmland now feeding students across 7 schools, with one harvest alone producing 975kg of maize and 453kg of beans for school meals

✅ 162 teachers (53% female) supported through ongoing professional development, alongside 48 teacher trainee scholars on track to qualify

✅ 21 girls rescued from the direct threat of FGC and child marriage are now safe, in school and thriving through our Ambassadors of Hope program

✅ 2 new girls' dormitories underway in Baringo, building on our sister project in Tanzania where girls' completion rates more than tripled (47 to 178 students) once safe boarding was introduced

🤝 Kenya's Ministry of Education visited us in person this year and described our school farm model as "a genuine game changer." It's proof our model works: real, lasting change that communities can carry forward themselves.

🇦🇺 This morning, Samuel dropped by to see Rasti and Rupali from Get RARE Properties — wonderful friends and supporters of So They Can, who are currently sponsoring 33 young children access quality education in Kenya 👏

💡 Their model is beautifully simple: For every 10 properties they help buyers secure, they sponsor one child through education 📚

Walking into their office, you’ll find the photos of every student they support proudly displayed on the wall. It’s a powerful reminder that every property settled doesn’t just change a buyer’s future, it helps change a child’s too 💛

➡️For Samuel — one of the first students supported through So They Can’s sponsorship program and now in the final years of his pharmaceutical degree — it was a special opportunity to share how education has transformed his life with the people making those same opportunities possible for the next generation.

Thank you, Rasti and Rupali for proving that business can be a force for good 🌍💙
