Meet Malika.

15-year-old Malika has been at the Xavier Jesuit School in Sisopohon Cambodia since 2017 she has an exemplary academic record and is a member of the Student Council.

However, she has had to overcome great adversity to get to this point.

She was very ill as a young child, which has motivated her to work hard and stay in school so that she can realise her dream of working in healthcare.

Congratulations to Father Chris Middleton SJ on his promotion to Provincial for the Australian Jesuit Province.

Today is World Teacher’s Day. To celebrate, we would like to tell you a bit about the wonderful teacher training program run by Fe y Alegria in Cambodia.

Through Fe y Alegria training, teachers can get high-quality access to new methods of teaching as well as skills to combat bullying and ways to ensure students excel in the classroom.

When clean water flows close to home, everything changes.

Families gain back hours each day. Children have more time to learn, rest and play. Communities can better protect their health, safety and dignity.

“Thanks to your generosity, my daughter’s life has changed.”

At just nine years old, Saomean from Cambodia has already overcome challenges that once seemed impossible.

Born with an intellectual disability and cerebral palsy, Saomean spent much of her early childhood unable to sit, walk, speak or communicate her basic needs.

Thanks to Jesuit Mission’s partners at the Karuna Battambang Organization , Saomean’s dignity has been restored, and she has greater hopes for the future than she has ever had.

A heartfelt thank you to the students at Saint Ignatius College Geelong and St Aloysius' College, Milsons Point for taking part in Jesuit Mission’s One Foot Raised challenge.

By following in the footsteps of St Ignatius, the students showed their commitment to accompanying people on the margins. We’re deeply grateful for their enthusiasm and support.

Next, students in Years 7 and 8 at Xavier College Kew will take on the challenge. We wish them a meaningful and enjoyable day.

We were blessed on Tuesday with the company of former Jesuit Mission Director and long-time board member Fr Steve Curtin SJ.

We shared stories and had a few laughs including the fact that half of our office seemed to be wearing green 💚!
