Don’t miss the Carers NSW 2025 National Carers Week Online Art Exhibition, a vibrant celebration of creativity and resilience. This inspiring exhibition features artwork created by young carers aged 6 -18 who participate in the Carer Gateway peer support programs across the Central Coast, Hunter, New England, Mid North Coast and North Coast regions.
Both the Click and Connect and Creative Young Carer peer support programs are a weekly online peer support group for young carers, providing a much-needed space for connection, creativity, and building community.
The program allows young people who provide unpaid care to loved ones with disabilities, chronic illnesses, mental health conditions, or substance dependencies to share their experiences and support one another.
➡️ There are over 391,300 young carers across the country, with more than 150,000 under the age of 18.
➡️ Young carers often take on roles such as household management, administering medication, and providing emotional support.
➡️ Many young carers begin their caring responsibilities as early as five or six years old, yet they remain largely hidden in the community.
➡️ Young carers are disproportionately represented among culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) and First Nations young communities.
