We celebrate 20 Filipino nurses with doctorates across Australia—nurse leaders, educators, researchers, clinicians and change-makers contributing to better healthcare and stronger communities.

And the future looks even brighter: nine more Filipino nurses are currently pursuing their PhDs, with expected completions between 2027 and 2030.

Behind every doctorate are years of study, sacrifice, research, perseverance and a commitment to improving nursing and healthcare.

May this growing community inspire more Filipino nurses to pursue research, scholarship and academic leadership.

Let’s support Filipino nurses doing meaningful research! 🇵🇭👏

We are pleased to highlight the academic research project of James Marl M. Lapinid, which examines critical care nurses’ experiences of grief and anxiety, alongside their preparedness and perceived ability to care for dying patients.

The study will also explore whether professional experience, demographic factors, and education or training are related to how nurses experience and manage this challenging aspect of critical care.

Caring for dying patients requires both clinical competence and emotional preparedness. Research that helps us better understand and support the nurses providing this care matters.

Denmark is opening another pathway for Filipino health and social care professionals! 🇵🇭🤝🇩🇰

Beginning in 2027, Danish municipalities will be able to recruit up to 100 Filipino professionals each year to help address growing shortages in elderly care.

This is another recognition of the skills, compassion, and dedication Filipino healthcare professionals bring to health systems worldwide. But as opportunities expand, ethical recruitment, fair working conditions, cultural preparation, and protection of the Philippine health workforce must remain central.

Migration should create opportunities for Filipino professionals while benefiting communities both at home and abroad.
