15 years ago, our work across Asia and the Pacific was about building houses. Today, it's about building systems that save lives.

In Nepal, community disaster networks meant not a single life was lost in one of the worst floods Eastern Nepal has seen in decades. In Cambodia, a small housing project helped shape national policy.

In Fiji, a Water for Women partnership is shifting who gets a seat at the table.

This is what 15 years of partnership with the Australian Government through ANCP looks like, not just homes, but resilience that lasts long after the project ends.

For years, a young girl couldn't leave her own home without being carried. Steep steps, an uneven floor, a house never built with her in mind.

Now, through fudning with Australian Government Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade's , she moves in and out on her own, wheelchair and all, and gets herself ready for school without help.

Her mum put it simply: "Your help has changed our lives."

For years, Kohinur and her family of five shared a single room, and every rainy season, water poured through the roof and flooded the floor.

Then Habitat for Humanity Bangladesh, in partnership with 's ANCP, helped repair her home. Now the roof doesn't leak, her daughter has a quiet place to study, and the whole family can finally sleep peacefully through the night. 🌧️➡️☀️

Melanie* had spent almost 3 years living in a refuge centre following domestic violence.

Then, through our Housing Access Pathways program, Melanie and her son were given the opportunity to rent a safe, stable home. The difference it has made is profound.

"I've been able to create a safe space and loving home for him to grow up in."

We are grateful to corporate partners like ALAND who make this program possible. And we remain committed to ensuring more families have a safe place to call home.

This Homelessness Week, we've got some news to share.

We've joined a brand new National Alliance for Meanwhile Use - a coalition of property developers, government and community organisations working together to turn empty homes into safe, transitional housing, fast.

Right now there are tens of thousands of vacant homes across NSW alone, while more than 122,000 people across Australia don't have a safe place to sleep.

The Alliance is about closing that gap by activating properties that would otherwise sit empty, in as little as 12 weeks.

"Now I have the confidence to teach others what I have learned." 💙

Shuklaphanta Municipality in Nepal is a community at risk of flooding, fire, and extreme heat. After attending a two-day training on disaster risk reduction, Sakina didn't just change her own household, she brought her neighbours, women's groups and local youth together to share what she'd learned.

One training. One young woman. A whole community more prepared.
