Swamp Wallaby spotted at Gore Cove! 🦘🌿
Lovingly nicknamed Swampy, this wallaby has been seen in Gore Cove Reserve and nearby bushland over the past year – a heartening sign of recovery in our local environment. These wallabies rely on connected green corridors to travel between reserves, feeding on vegetation along the way.
For over 35 years, our Bushland team and dedicated Bushcare volunteers have nurtured this 15-hectare corridor, creating the kind of thriving habitat that invites native wildlife like Swampy to return.
You can help support native wildlife by:
🌱 Joining your local Bushcare group
🪴 Planting native habitat gardens
👣 Staying on tracks in bushland
🐕 Keeping dogs on a lead and caring for your cat responsibly

Our new neighbours are buzzing to meet you! 🐝
Come say hi to the new native bees in Ted Mack Civic Park – don't worry, they're stingless and much smaller than the European bees you might be used to.
Bees and other pollinators play a vital role in our environment, pollinating local plants and supporting biodiversity.
A big thank you to Robert, one of the winners of the Trailblazer Award at this year’s North Sydney Community Awards, for helping install the beehive.

Water for wildlife too!

It's hot out there and having fresh water on the ground for lizards can help them stay hydrated! Place the bowl near dense groundcover/shelter. This Blue-tongue drank for about 10 minutes!
The sticks can help smaller creatures get in and out of the water too.
