$6000 milestone for Toothbrush+ exceeded! ๐Ÿชฅ

Our Toothbrush+ initiative has the ambitious aim to provide Community Support Centres in Frankston and on the Peninsula with a sustainable supply of hygiene products, which are redistributed to low-income and homeless community members.

How do we do this?

Primarily through local community partners, such as pharmacies and dental practices:

๐ŸงดIn pharmacies, we have organised donation boxes where customers can purchase and put hygiene products into. Once a box is full, our team collects the products, counts and logs them, and allocates them to a Community Support Centre based on that centre's current needs. When we have a sizeable number of donations collected, we deliver the products to the centre, where they are redistributed to vulnerable community members.

๐ŸฆทIn dental practices, the clinics give us regular donations of extra toothpaste samples, and sometimes toothbrushes. These products then undergo the same process as above, and also end up in the hands of people doing it tough in Frankston and on the Peninsula.

As the number of our community partners grows, so do donation number and impact. So here is a big thank you to some local businesses who are working with us to support our communities: ๐Ÿ’ช

โญ District 9815 Awards Night โญ

We are very proud to announce that at tonight's District Awards, we have been awarded a Gold Club Membership Award and a Bronze Governor's Excellence Award!

These awards reflect the dedication, hard work, and heart that our members put into everything this club does. So proud to have the team that we do! ๐Ÿซถ

As we edge to the close of our 2nd full year in action since our refounding, we look ahead with excitement to what the future holds, and look back with pride at what a group of like-minded young people can achieve when we work together.

Thank you to everyone who supports us, with special mentions to our parent clubs, and Rotary Club of Rosebud-Rye, as well as our 'uncle club' (technical term), Rotary Club of Mount Martha. ๐Ÿ’™

May Social - Dinner & a Movie ๐ŸŽฅ

This month's social was a fun evening to unwind together as we approach the end of this Rotaract year!

By popular vote, we went to see the Devil Wears Prada 2 at Hoyts Frankston, following a meal and a quick trip to the local supermarket for movie snacks! ๐Ÿฟ

Draw it Clean โœ๏ธ๐ŸŒณ

Are you a school teacher or have connections to a primary or secondary school in Frankston? If that sounds like you, keep reading!

Draw It Clean is an initiative in collaboration with Sinopec, which aims to advocate for a green Frankston City, free of litter, with natural spaces for all to enjoy. With this in mind, we aim to put young voices in the spotlight through an art competition, with the theme โ€˜My City, My Green'. ๐ŸŽจ

Winning entries will have their artwork displayed around the City, reflecting Frankston's rich art culture, and community clean-ups will be run in each winner's featured locations. Winners will also be invited to the Awards Ceremony & Exhibition Launch, and will receive prize packages! โญ

The competition is open now and closes June 5!

Epic Day of Service - Making 100 Easy Food Packs ๐Ÿ’ช

The Epic Day of Service (May 16th) invites volunteers all around the world to hold a community service project on the day, with the vision of uniting people for good around the world and creating transformative positive action โค๏ธ

By packing 100 Easy Food Packs with some help from our friends at , we have provided 100 vulnerable community members who arrive at in the search of support with non-perishable and soft food items to help fill their stomachs. Many of these vulnerable community members are homeless and have not eaten in several days when they arrive at the Support Centre. Hungry, they struggle to express their situation, making it difficult for the case worker to connect them to the right services. This is where Easy Food Packs come in. They are handed to these community members when they arrive for an intake interview, and fly off the shelves. These are super easy and quick to make and always in need, so we encourage you to host your own packing day! ๐Ÿ™Œ

Join us! Epic Day of Service Event ๐Ÿ™Œ

Join us at 4pm on Saturday 16th of May at Beauty Park, Frankston, to pack 100 Easy Food Packs! ๐Ÿ’ช

Expect a fun afternoon focused on supporting those doing it tough in our local community. Easy Food Packs are small food packs containing a mix of good items in a large ziplock bag which are given to homeless and vulnerable people during intake interviews at ๐Ÿฉต

These vulnerable community members often arrive at the centre in search of support, including housing, employment, and simply just food. To be connected to these services, they go through an intake interview so that the case worker can understand their needs and support them in the most effective way possible. People often arrive not having eaten for days and getting some food in them quickly is critical not only for their health but also for their ability to communicate their situations and needs to the Community Support Centre. As you may expect, these packs fly off the shelves so come lend a hand! Hope to see you soon! ๐Ÿค
