Southern Women's Action Network SWAN

Southern Women's Action Network SWAN We are a diverse group of women from the Mornington Peninsula interested in matters of social Justice.

We meet every 2nd month of the year at an event that features a woman speaker promoting issues of social justice. We write letters to politicians, walk, etc in support of social justice causes. We fundraise and donate goods to organisations such as the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre and Women's refuges. We are looking to increase our membership and would be open to new ideas and new energy! We ackn

owledge that we meet on the land of the Boon Wurrung / Bunurong people, ancient custodians of this land, dispossessed by colonisation. We acknowledge the racism and injustice that continues to blight their lives and we commit ourselves to a different future, marked by reconciliation, justice and shared citizenship.

Please Email Senior Ministers

We’re closer than ever – investor tax breaks are on the table. Now we need to lock it in.

Senior government sources have confirmed that negative gearing and the CGT discount are actively being considered this Budget.

This is the clearest sign yet that real reform is possible. But the next few days will be critical.

✍️ Send a message to Senior Ministers calling for an end to investor tax breaks and investment in public and community housing at scale.

It’s time to fix the system: end unfair investor handouts, starting with the short-stay loophole, and redirect this funding into the affordable homes we need.

🚨 The Ranch is being demolished - the ONLY crisis accommodation on the Mornington Peninsula.

Right now, our region already has the highest number of people sleeping rough in Victoria 📊

People are sleeping in cars, tents along the foreshore — not by choice, there is nowhere else to go.

For years, SWAN has been calling on the State Government for our fair share of funding to address this crisis.

We cannot stay silent while people are left without shelter.

👉 We need you to act.

Please write to the State Government and tell them:

• The demolition of The Ranch is leaving our community without crisis accommodation
• People are being forced to sleep rough on the foreshore
• The Mornington Peninsula is in a housing and homelessness crisis

⚠️ Demand urgent action

• Immediate crisis accommodation
• Funding to build safe transitional housing for women and children
• Real investment in public housing
• Funding for our 3 Community Support Centres
• Outreach workers and wraparound support services
