When Azifa arrived in Australia from Afghanistan, she felt nervous about what lay ahead.

But through attending Australian Red Cross Connected Families activities in her new hometown of Canberra, she found friendship,
confidence and a sense of belonging.

“Since I arrived, I feel that Red Cross is my second home,” she says.

🚨New Australian Red Cross Shop opens in Terrigal, New South Wales🚨

Today we officially opened the doors to our new Australian Red Cross Shop in Terrigal in NSW, creating another place for people to shop sustainably, donate generously and support Australian Red Cross humanitarian work.

The new store joins our network of 170+ shops, which contributed approximately $9 million to Australian Red Cross programs last year while helping divert 2,353 tonnes of textiles from landfill.

In July, the AirTrunk Legal Team rolled up their sleeves to help create Trauma Teddies, bringing comfort and reassurance to children and community members facing emergencies, hospital visits and challenging times. 🧸❤️

Trauma Teddies provide a source of comfort and emotional support for children and adults navigating challenging situations, from emergencies, hospital visits, and periods of isolation and loneliness.

Thanks to their support, more people in our communities will have access to a simple but powerful source of care when they need it most.

Today, we mark 112 years of Australian Red Cross.

For more than a century, generations of staff, members, volunteers and supporters have stood alongside people facing conflict, disaster and hardship. Together, we've helped communities prepare for, respond to and recover from some of life's most challenging moments in Australia and internationally.

Thank you for the role you play in helping Australian Red Cross create a more connected, compassionate and resilient future. Together, we are powering our purpose and making a difference in communities every day.

Today we recognise the 77th anniversary of the Geneva Conventions. It's a day that reminds us that humanitarian action is guided by principles and protections that help preserve humanity during times of conflict.

For 77 years, these universally ratified laws have helped protect civilians, detainees, the wounded and sick, and humanitarian personnel during armed conflict.

Australian Red Cross delegate and emergency nurse JP Miller explains how international humanitarian law (IHL) protects civilians and enables medical workers like himself to reach people who need care.

Today on Aged Care Employees Day, we celebrate our incredible network of Australian Red Cross staff and volunteers like Keren supporting older Australians across the country.

Every day, our dedicated and compassionate aged and community care teams help those in need stay connected to the people, places and communities that matter most.

Whether it's making a wellbeing call, visiting someone at home, or delivering a nourishing meal, thank you. These moments may seem small, but they can have a lasting impact on confidence, wellbeing and independence.

Every connection matters.

Every person makes a difference.

Today we recognise National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day and this year’s theme, "Living Our Truth".

In Galiwin’ku, our Baby Hub program is supporting the health, wellbeing and future of children and families, while respecting and celebrating the strength, culture and leadership that already exists within community.

A heartfelt thank you to our partner Bayer for helping strengthen this work over the years, and to the dedicated Baby Hub team whose passion and commitment are creating lasting impact for children and families.

Connection starts with a simple hello.

For many older Australians, a regular phone call or friendly visit can make all the difference.

During Loneliness Awareness Week, we're recognising the importance of meaningful connection and our dedicated staff and volunteers who help older Australians stay connected to their communities every day.

Because sometimes the smallest moments have the biggest impact.

If you know someone who may benefit from greater connection, or if you'd like to help someone feel less alone, Australian Red Cross is here.
