Last week we had the privilege of attending a number of National Reconciliation Week events across our community - each one a powerful reminder of the strength, beauty and resilience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures.

From Derrimut Weelam Gathering Place in Mordialloc, to Bunjil Place in Narre Warren, NRW event in Dandenong, and the Nairm Marr Djambana flag raising event, we joined hundreds of community members in coming together to listen, learn and reflect.

Across all events, this year’s theme of being “All In” for reconciliation was felt strongly. It was a beautiful reminder that reconciliation is a shared journey, and that meaningful change happens when we walk together.

Thank you to everyone who made these events so special. 🖤💛❤️

Today is Mabo Day, commemorating the landmark 1992 High Court decision that recognised First Nations land rights and challenged the concept of Terra Nullius.

Family Life recognise today, and National Reconciliation Week as a meaningful time to reflect on our shared history and consider how we can contribute to reconciliation, both in our communities, and at work.

This National Reconciliation Week (27 May – 3 June) is a powerful opportunity to reflect on our shared history and consider how each of us can contribute to reconciliation - within our communities and in our workplaces.

This year invites us all to deepen our understanding, strengthen relationships, and take meaningful action towards a more inclusive and respectful future.

At Family Life, we’ll be participating in a range of local events as part of our ongoing reconciliation journey. We also encourage our community to explore the Reconciliation Australia website for valuable resources and a guide to events happening across Melbourne.

Whether you attend a local event, listen to First Nations voices, or engage with recommended readings and stories, we hope you’ll find a meaningful way to learn, reflect, and take part.
